Wow, that 'They had no choice' brought a tear to my eyes! Poor horses! Can't wait to see show!

Loved the film and would just love to see this meaningful, inspiring stage production. Just can't believe 10 million horses perished & the cruelty they endured on the frontlines and yes..they had no choice. It's not enough man is so inhumane to his own kind, in war and life so he is to the innocent animals of this earth. The Handspring Puppet Theater from S. Africa just makes Joey & Topthorne transcendent and come to life. Utterly magnificent.

@aiexfrankerson The saying "They had no choice" bascially means that the horses couldn't say no, they don't want to be used in the war. As all animals, they cant tell us their feelings and that.

I dream WW1 was the end to all wars. For the first time, there mass amount of films and pictures to show people that war is truly hell on earth. However, no matter how "civilized" we humans are and will be. We can never fully let go of our blood lust.

The horses didn't know why they were there or what they were being ridden towards (remember, the bullets/cannonballs were being fired from *both* sides), and were trained to help ensure they stayed obedient & calm despite the noise/chaos (hence the term "bombproofing" one's horse) -- in addition to that, horses are herd animals, so their natural reaction to fear is to keep up with other running horses and not be left behind. That amounts to not having a choice.

@aiexfrankerson The men and other humans in the war had the choice to go left and right. Some people WANTED to go to war. The horses had no choice. They couldn't decide if they should go left or right to avoid gunfire, they were forced into line of fire, next to bombs and other horrifying stuff. Humans can avoid that. Animals can't.

@arweiss100 I went and saw the movie as well, almost cried my eyes out. I wish I could see the puppets, they look amazingly real. You can see how much work has gone into building them, and it has payed off.

I saw this on Broadway just because I wanted to see this puppetry in action. Not a huge fan of the play - it's too long, a bit overacted and WAY too depressing (I cried my eyes out the entire time), but the puppetry is absolutely amazing.

Now that you have read the chant, you will meet this little girl. In the middle of the night she wil...l stand at the side of your bed starring straight into your eyes. She will suffo......cate......... you... like she... See More ... was suffocated. This story is sadly true. If you post this 5 differnt times she will not bother you
