A note on the fine tip markers that you say permanently stain the parts: Wear a cotton jewelers/modelers glove, make the line, then start rubbing it with your thumb. It'll stay in the recess/panel line, but will fade out on the rest, giving a nice smooth weathered look. They basically panel line and ad a slight shading effect when used properly. But they do dry fairly quick, so start rubbing it off about 5 seconds after applying.

For the Zeon markers, those shades of red and green are very very very specifically Zaku II colors, the Char "reds" and the standard greens. It's why they're both A) the backbone of the Zeon paints and B) really not applicable outside of their bubble if you're not actively choosing those custom colors.

Completely unrelated, But for unpainted beam sabers, Theres a paint i got at Michael’s for like $3 (CAD) Its a bright, metallic pink with a golden sheen that reflects light really well. When the light shines off it, the pink turns into a sparkling gold (not glittery though because that looks cheap) The brand is FolkArt, the colour specifically is called (5246CA) Orchid Flash. Like i said, i paid $3 for it, and i was impressed with the colour and the way the light hits in.

Top coat is almost always applied After you're done customizing your kit. An exception to this gloss coat, which can be used before the kit is "finished", as a way to create more surface area for decals to grip on (especially waterslides). Keep in mind that another layer of topcoat should still be applied afterwards though.

If a kit has unfinished plastic and has sat for some time in high temperature conditions, the plastic can start "sweating" its plasticizer. This shows up a thin, white layer on the plastic surface, and soap will take it off. The plastic is clean enough from the factory, but it doesn't hurt to wash it just in case, especially if you're not sure how long a kit has been sitting.

The paints in my metallic markers always get dried up when not used for a few months, any way to fix it?

I think u just gotta shake em once every while to mix the chemicals a little.
@wongjameszhengjie

How many times or how long do you have to shake the marker to properly agitate it by the way?
@citrusjuicebox
@citrusjuicebox 7 жыл бұрын
+thattonefellaguy Depends on the color and how long it's been sitting. Sometimes a few seconds, sometimes several minutes.

Primer isn't necessary if you only plan on doing light detailing. Enjoy the process and thank you for your support!

Citrus thank you for the info should I still wash the kit in warm water and dish soap?
@citrusjuicebox
@citrusjuicebox 6 жыл бұрын
Yes. Again, not strictly necessary, but washing will definitely help paint stick.

Would you use Gundam markers on primed parts as well or just raw parts as shown in this vid?
@citrusjuicebox
@citrusjuicebox 5 жыл бұрын
You can use it over primer, but flaws will be harder to correct.

Do you always paint on the runners? Or do you sometimes paint them after you build them?
@citrusjuicebox
@citrusjuicebox 5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes. It's usually easier to paint small pieces on their runners.
