Theories of change are often created by evaluators for evaluation purposes. And often because funders haven’t really thought through the logic of their interventions. This session will explore how this can lead to overly complex Theories of Change and their reduced value unless they are used by funders and implementers, and not just as an evaluation tool.

Jamie Fotheringham has recently joined Kantar Public to head up their Evaluation Practice in New Zealand. He is an economist by training, with over 25 years' experience in evaluation and impact assessment. Most recently he has specialised in evaluating international development projects funded by the UK Government (FCDO) in a wide variety of topic areas including livelihoods, governance, and gender equality and social inclusion. Jamie was previously Head of Policy and Economic Development for the Falkland Islands Government and has a particular interest in small island economies."
