Can you discuss the slightly convex end (crown) of your flat chisels? Any other advantages besides avoiding corners gouging the surface? I can see where it might act as a slight skew cut in all directions as you move forward. These close up, detailed videos are excellent. Thanks!

You have good eyes! That ends make cutting the spiral on the scroll easier, less chances of leaving marks on the wood unwillingly with sharp corners.

Another question please….you advised a 80x50x 300 scroll blank, yet most scrolls seem to be in range of 50-52 mm wide. What is your reason to start with such a wide blank? Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

Scrolls are usually around 40-42 mm wide. You will want to leave some room for planning the wood flat so you can work on it precisely.

how often do you sharpen/strop your chisels?

I will sharpen them when they are dull, would usually strop a bit before every step
