I highly recommend a speaker or earphone rather than LED, as your ears are more sensitive to changes in tone than eyes are to light, so you don't need the circuit to be as sensitive to detect small differences :-)

there is no tone, its a simple no amplification circuit, that only a red led can show the minor changes in induced voltage in range of millivolts, the speaker needs huge drive current which need amplification that makes circuit not most simple. the led draws 0.01 ma at the time of sensing!

those are aluminium coins and meant to replicate gold coin because it has similar electrical conductance and none ferromagnetic.
