One small tip I might suggest for when you next make bracers, or just for anyone making them in general, is gently curving the bottom edge into like a domed curve. It sits nicer on the wrist and stops it digging in over time.

To help with the sliding bracer problem, I would suggest looking into pointing your armor pieces. Its the process of attaching armor directly to an underlayer via arming points, reinforced parts of something like a gambeson with a sturdy string attached through it.

Little tip for you cl3ver: don't put things too much in your tigh pockets. You may lose something or two if you start running around since your legs will move a lot. Your pockets from your belt is going to do the work way better in that sense. (Sorry for my use of english, i'm a french canadian so it's still a bit rough here and there)

I'd advise you not to keep (larp approved) knives in those leg pockets. They'll affect your ability to comfortably crouch or bend. But they are absolutely perfect for other small things like lockpicks, small tools, a coin purse you happened to have found... In someone else's pocket

Love the idea of making sets like this. Random projects are still amazing., but it is really cool to see a bunch of projects come together to create some sort of set. not just armor, but like an armor set, along with bags, gear, random trinkets, etc, that would all go along with that kit. Super fun! Also, PLEASE MAKE TURN SHOES! I would love to see your process.

Can we get a vid on a canvas messenger bag? Also called satchels. Like those crossbody leather ones that news boys used to use. I am fairly sure it's been used in past eras and it would be a simple great general bag so I don't see how it wasn't made before the news boys used the style. Also, can we get one on different bladed weapon designs? Just seeing the designs and covering how it might be used will help for deciding on what style changes verses practical edges and shapes would help. So would going over the use of materials either because metal was rare or expensive at whatever time period you're working with and alternate materials to use if you are only making a mock up verses a Larp one verses a real usable replica. Having a dedicated video for these things would help tremendously.
@kiohazardenjoysyoutube
@kiohazardenjoysyoutube 26 күн бұрын
Just to clarify, you cannot call something a messenger bag unless it can hold legal sized folders and papers. Otherwise it's just a rectangular crossbody, or satchel.

Ooohhh 💡💡💡those leg armors pieces gave me the solution to an issue ive been pondering for years about protecting the femoral artery. They can be extended around the inner thigh. Im soo building those this week. 😊
@StarlasAiko
@StarlasAiko Ай бұрын
The thigh armour would want to wrap a bit further around, to protect the side of the thigh, not only the front. This also would give you a more suitable position for the knife pocket, so the handle of the knife is beside the thigh and doesn't dig into your abdomon whenever you lift your leg.

I like the palm straps to hold the backslappers in place, and I’ll be interested to see how well that works keeping the bracers from trying to ride down your arm. I hope you placed them to fit in the natural creases in your palms (Fate line? Heart line? I can’t remember.) to prevent chafing. Making a fist with the strap in your hand before attaching it to the backslapper would align it naturally.

It hurts, when you get hit in the place where the button sits. No mitigation from armor, just good old piece of metal transfering the strike energy to your body. That's why I don't use those buttons for armor anymore, actually
@markfergerson2145
@markfergerson2145 Ай бұрын
I’ve got some pieces of WW1 military kit that uses those buttons. (I don’t wear them because they’re too fragile, I use them for inspiration constructing costume bits.) Those that are intended to ride on the body have small thick leather patches sewn over them evidently exactly to mitigate that pressure. It’s not a bad idea to see what solutions were found in the real world for this kind of problem.

So. Wanted to pick your (hive mind) brain a bit about functional bracers. My character is a vagabond tea monk, perhaps more in line in a Steampunk culture. I took a varraition of your alchemist coffee brewer design for another part of my gear. My character is a bit like Artemis Gordon. Lot of fun practical gadgets and i love the idea of incorporating bracers that would do something a bit more than just hold things like stirring sticks or tea satchels. So I'm wondering what your cogs may come up with.... 🤔 TIA!

I know you're having an interesting association with Tandy right now, and they do sell both types of button studs; and I don't want to see any legal complications over a simple mistake involving trade marked items and your desire to give us fantastic videos full of information.
