Thanks a ton for this. I've got a 3-day 2nd ed. WFRP adventure coming up in late-January that I'm running. All my players are getting character sheets done up like this.

Heck yeah! I'd just completely submerged my papers, and it was such a hassel! This seems like a much better method! Haha

An alternative would be pulling out the blank pages from old books that are yellowed or dog eared, so it has a different texture and weight to printer paper and hand writing the info/boxes on them. Using multiple different books would also mean different paper weights and sizes for less uniformity.

I imagine using tea bags would have a similar effect as the coffee. I drink a lot of tea, so I go through them frequently. On the subject of blood stains, it's worth remembering that blood turns a ruddy brown when it dries. So you could mix some red and brown craft paint, water it down, then use the toothbrush method to splatter it on. In the event you want some old blood.

Even black tea comes out a little lighter in color than the coffee, but by all means, use tea if you'd like! Good thoughts on the blood! I guess it boils down to the question: Fresh blood or old blood?

I'd then scan that so it could be reproduced again and again without feeling like a gross crusty old sheet. Maybe even make an overlay so it stains the text typed onto the sheets also??

Maybe, but I think even black tea won't have as much color as ground coffee does

Good techniques for stressing paper. The end result just looks odd to me. The perfect boxes and everything screams that they aren't from the time period. I wouldn't go through that trouble unless I found a sheet that looked the part.

These look like they would be painful to use. It's hard enough finding information on them when they are clean and crisp in game one. I would hate to try and use these after game four or five when they have had loads of stuff scribbled and crossed out on them. And damaging the paper like this will mean that the moment you have to rub out some pencil, you'll likely be going through the paper. If you want to weather your roster sheets, only do the parts that you aren't going to be writing on. Or scan a weathered page into Photoshop, lower the opacity, then drag in the roster sheet as a new layer and delete the white. Finally, print it out in colour. Then you'll be able to write on it and rub out the pencil without the paper falling apart on you, plus you'll actually be able to read what you've written.

They in absolutely no way fall apart. I have used them. You're more than welcome to do it your way, if preferred. Thank you for watching!

@@tabletop.wizards no worries. My experience with making tea stained maps/aged scrolls/etc. was that the paper would always become very weak after making them, which is fine if you are only reading them. But Mordheim roster sheets tend to get a real beating. But I guess your roster sheets don't get the same kind of beating that mine and my Mordheim group's roster sheets do. I honestly, normally write up my roster sheet digitally after 3 or 4 games and re-print it as with scribbling out gold, getting a whole henchmen group killed off and then having to write it in again, traveling around with them and the odd beer spill or pizza fingers on them they tend to get really hard to read. Especially by game 12! And I really hate that when I am trying to keep a game moving quickly along. You can also buy aged looking paper, that you can apparently print straight onto, but doesn't have the damaged effects of wetting it.

@@idontwanttopickone and let's be honest, "pizza fingers" will happen regardless of your method 🤣
