Today I am stepping out of my comfort zone and working with electricity! I start off with a dollar store tea light and then go onto some lights I ordered online. I hope you enjoy and will join in with Prompt #4. Make sure to use #bentleyhouseprompts :)

Genius! I have avoided "electrifying" my project because of the prohibitive cost - even though many of the lighting fixtures I have purchased over the years are designed to work. Now I think I can tackle each of them individually - all I need is a truck load of batteries! Thank you for sharing your talents once again.

Great idea for adding individual lights to 1/12 scale houses. I ordered the same lights so I can use them in chandeliers. I am glad to see you out of your comfort zone! Electrifying dollhouses doesn’t have to involve house current not with today’s options for battery powered lights and the mini led bulbs never get hot so there are no fire hazards!

Nooo, you don't need to be scared of electricity! It's not that scary! With LEDs, you could do something the size of the abandoned coffee shop with just a USB power source, and those only put out 5v. So it's less dangerous than licking a 9v battery, haha. I'm doing a 12v system in my dollhouse, and the most intimidating thing about it is all the math to see how many LEDs I can run off the 1A power supply I'm using.
@BentleyHouseMinis
@BentleyHouseMinis 5 жыл бұрын
Oh a USB power source would be perfect!! Then its rechargeable and I dont have to worry about a plug! I will def be researching that a bit more 😉
@marjanwolfs6273

I also don't know a lot about electricity, but I know that the 2 wires may not touch eachother. That is because you can get "kortsluiting"I have no idea what the English word is.( this is Dutch) But it means that in the end you can have a fire. And fire in the dollshouse is not in miniature. Maybe the wire will not be very hot, but maybe next time put some paper tape between or around 1 of the wires. You can bake that in the oven, it will not burn when the clay is on top of it. I hope you understand my story. I love the idea and it looks wonderfull.
@BentleyHouseMinis
@BentleyHouseMinis 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marjan and I totally understand :) Its hard to see but there is a thin coating on the snake wires that keep them from actually touching. Only the bottom 1/4" is bare. This is great info to keep in mind though in case someone gets wires without the coating! Thanks for chiming in!❤
@marjanwolfs6273
