Tell them crossdressing in costume is a tradition as old as acting itself, seeing as women didn't used to be allowed on stage and all the men had to play women ;) so you're simply upkeeping ancient traditions

Can I just say I appreciate this tutorial so much? I've been trying to do good male cosplay makeup for years, I watched so many tutorials, but they never really "worked". Our face shapes are actually similar, so referencing the way you contour works sooo much better. I haven't done a full cosplay with the makeup yet, but my friends were impressed with the test. So thank you for making this!

Thanks so much for this tutorial! It finally convinced me to buy a contour palette solely for crossplay and I gotta say it was definitely the missing link. I feel so much more confident cosplaying as male characters now. The eyebrow trick about getting rid of the arch especially helped. I never thought to do that. Thanks and keep up the awesome work!!

Guys are so rare when it comes to cosplay at least where I live. I'm like the only male from birth person here and feel out of place, especially when people tell me "cosplay is a girl thing." Still debating whether or not to put makeup to hide my acne T^T

Question what if the character doesn’t have facial hair in more like a baby face how do you still make it look more male like

+Devilsblackrose1 I would suggest using all the other techniques and not the facial hair, then darkening the jawline contour more. A lot of it is in how you carry yourself too, so practicing expressions and poses in the mirror for the character helps!

Jack Sharman hey! i recommend gc2b and underworks. pretty sure you can get both online (amazon or one of their websites) and there should be size charts to help you. just refrain from getting any off-brand binders, especially any that don’t look kinda like tank tops/crop top and never ever use ace bandages

Heya Nyx! So I know that you cosplay as a Male Lavellan, and I'm trying to as well. The thing is, I keep the long hair for my elfy boy, and the Dalish don't exactly have facial hair, so it's difficult to 1 - show the contouring past my fluffy hair, and 2 - make it obvious whatsoever that he's male. Would you have any advice for that, by chance?

I'd suggest working hard on the eyebrows, jawline and neck contouring - elves always look a little genderless anyway, so don't worry too hard about making it look too masculine, as long as it doesn't look too feminine!

I'm kinda having a crisis. I have my drama exam tomorrow and I want to use this for my character but I don't have a sponge or have time to buy one before my exam (as it is 7:40pm where I am and all the shops are closed). Do you have any ideas as to what I could use instead? Would an eyeshadow crease brush be okay for stubble?

Sorry that I've only just seen this! The back of a clean dish sponge can work too, or a brush if you're very gentle and careful! Good luck with the exam!

yikes, that must be annoying to clean up. most of the time when I cosplayed I literally just used foundation because of how bad makeup stings. or like corner eyeliner and nose contour at most when crossplaying as female characters, but nothing time consuming like this. props though for the effort, it always amazes me what people are able to do in these.
