After watching this, I have to say that kids/adults can be couch potatoes anywhere!! I'm glad that the Whitbeck family is more active in the Caribbean, but they can be active in Alaska! It's nice that they found something that can all enjoy together!!

St. John and the Virgin Islands are part of the United States, so you are not an "ex-pat" there if you are from the US.

+John Phantom The U.S.Virgin Islands are owned by the United States, and are territories of the United States, but are not part of the United States. Neither is Puerto Rico.

Henry Johnson you are wrong. Yes they are part of the United States. You need a us visa to visit there and in the us embassy they will explain to you that they are not considered a state but yes they are just like ‘d.c.’ and that’s why you don’t have to go to immigration when u travel there unless you are coming from a different county. If you are born in St. John’s you are American.

Americans don't need a passport to fly to the USVI from the mainland! I thought that it was just the name of the show, otherwise it is very incorrect!!

Hi John Phantom, you are absolutely correct. I have lived here for 13 years and I am still a U.S. Citizen. St. John is one of the most expensive places to live in the Virgin Islands. It is the most beautiful VI island, in my opinion though. The VI National Park is great and the beaches are the best!

MAN, wish I could do that, maybe not boating but just leave behind the conventional life of cubicles and the suburban life for a dream life. I'd rather have hard times down there than up here.

Use your wish as a goal, set a plan of how to reach that dream life and go for it.

That's like me moving from North Carolina to Hawaii and being called an expat. It's called the United States Virgin Islands for a reason! It's territory of the USA just like DC isn't a state and is a part of the USA, is the same as territories like the American Virgin Islands
