I’m not a fan of the factory chain supplied with the Makita chainsaw let’s see if we can give the saw a quick upgrade by throwing it away and replacing it with a Stilh chain.

That PMM3 chain is also a low kickback chain with safety rakers ;)

Really? What style of chain would you recommend? I really didn’t like the chain it came with. Thanks for your comment 👍.

@@grazierguy I'm still using the stock chains (or same spec replacement from Oregon). But I mostly do regular cross cuts, not much bore/rip cutting like you were doing in this video. For that, I don't have much issues with the performance of those oregon PX90 chains. Just make sure they're kept sharp. If the Stihl chain works better for you, that's great. Even though it is a similar style chain as the Oregon chains used originally by Makita, there may very well be subtle differences in the design that are noticeable. Might give them a try at some point too.

@@grazierguy I was taught you need to file down the top of the rakers lower than the cutting teeth - cant remember how much lower 1-2mm???

Yeah sorry about that, I’m just a hillbilly from Queensland Australia. If it makes you feel better I think it’s terrible too 😂😂😂. Where are you from?
