Well done! I love the unique idea, and the color pallet. The backings look amazing with the symbols and gold and green. Elegant!

This was fascinating! I do love a good "How It's Made", and watching the entire process of how an independent creates an oracle deck and guidebook from scratch isn't something you see very often. Thank you for making this video, it's been intriguing and helpful :)

I'm in the process of designing an oracle deck. I'm excited about it. I like your deck and looks like one I'd buy. I feel like I would resonate with this deck. I already got an idea of the designs. I prefer not to do the booklet. I'm excited about the process and looking forward to the outcome.

Yeah, I think that would be a cool idea. Since I am in the middle of designing my deck, It would be nice to know what range I should expect to budget for. I know that each person's experiences and choice will make that vary, but a target range number wouldn't be so bad.

Beautiful cards! I self printed my cards & ALMOST got my booklets printed, but it was way more using BookWright software, so now learning Risograph. Haha, of course I painted larger than standard because I thought it would be easier to shrink them when printing for better resolution? Silly me. I guess I'm not the only one that didn't know what a large undertaking this would be.

please disclose that your deck is ai generated if you're going to sell it. lots of people want to support artists who hand make their decks and you would be taking advantage of them if you don't clearly state it's AI based

Loving the idea of this! Been trying to find a company to print with and have been having trouble. Would you suggest the company you worked with?

It took me a really long time to decide on who to work with, it’s definitely worth taking your time though to find the right fit. I will say the company I decided on were great but because they were over seas there was a bit of a language barrier.

Did you use adobe illustrator for your design?

I used Procreate along side Pixlr E, which is a free online photo editor. It has a lot of the same tools, the slight limitation is that it only lets you save/download 3 times each day.

Hi! I thought exactly the same, because I love painting with watercolours and acrylics... I think its possible but we should digitilize it in order to edit it and to improve some details ... 🤔🤔 It will be mandatory if we want to print it! 😊 Thanks to show your project!!! It courage me a lot to make my own deck 💚💫💪🏻💞

That's no problem! Just make sure when you scan your artwork that the resolution is set to at least 300dpi so your digital files will be high quality 😊

My cards are 70mm*120mm, (2.75inch x 4.75inch), standard playing card size. I used a free template that came up when I searched online. Just make sure it’s got the bleed and cut lines that you need😊

I am wanting to hand paint an entire tarot deck with watercolor. Yes, I know this will be an extremely daunting task. It's not the work and time itself stressing me out though. It's the mystery and lack of knowledge of how all of this works. I am currently just doing the art on the standard tarot size (2.75" X 4.75") on watercolor paper. Taped off with masking tape. And hand doing everything. Is this stupid to be working in the identical size/format that the cards will be in? The size personally doesn't bother me and they're large enough to fit in fine details. So is this just personal preference? I'm also confused about how to get these printed professionally. And I've noticed most tarot cards have round edges. Do I need to take that into account with my actual hand-painted art as well? So far mine have square edges. I'm so stressed thinking about all of this. But I really really want to.
@Zoe-Jayne3 ай бұрын
Don't worry, the size should be absolutely fine! Just be sure to have your setting at least 300dpi when you scan so that you get high quality digital images. And if you decide that you want the cards to be a different size the manufacturer can adjust this as long as your images are high quality. The main reason I say to make sure to figure out your card size in the video is just so that your art fits the ratio of a card template, so you wont have to crop or stretch your artwork. Since you're doing it to a standard tarot size your dimensions should be all good. You're right, it is a mixture of preference and you can still alter or change things later down the line. A good printing company will advise you along the way! As for the corners, most get their deck with a curved finish. This is mainly I think for shuffling purposes , its just seen as more comfortable. But it is just a style choice, so if you wanted square edges, I don't see why not! You don't have to round them yourself, I didn't do mine. The manufacturer can do this for you during the cutting process. You can get various curve sizes. I believe some companies have their own standard template which will include the size of the curved corner. If you wanted a smaller curve to maintain a squarer edge I'm sure they could do that for you. If you decide that you do want to cut them at home, you can get corner cutters they usually around £6. I know how you feel, I was very stressed as well at the beginning. The best thing is to do is once you're ready to take the step to looking at finding a manufacturer is to talk to many different companies and ask them lots of questions ( I made a list that I added to as and when I thought of things),. Remember they are there to help you! I noticed that some companies were more willing to accommodate what I wanted for my deck than others, so don't feel obligated to stick with a company, shop around! 😊
