I had seen a photo of this bracelet, but your video explained it so clearly. THANK YOU! My friend wears copper to help ward off Covid bugs because copper has antimicrobial properties. She's a scientist so she's read the studies. Perfect gift.

Excellent!!! I made one of the Atlantic wave cuffs for my sisters friend and she said her partner would like one if I know how to make a 'mans one' I have no idea! I was hoping you may like a challenge hehe
@makingiteasywithliz10 жыл бұрын
That's awesome, Tara. As for a man...did he like the same cuff? If so, I would use another 6" or so of wire, depending on how big his wrist is. Jewelry for men is a gray area with me because of it being manly enough but if a guy is going to wear a cuff, he must be pretty opened minded and accepting of the design.

Thank tot so much for such an easy and lovely piece to try for my first complete piece instead of just twisting to make shapes lol! I have early arthritis and fibro at 33 so i try to keep my hands moving as much as i can, and as soon as i get the wire i will post you a pic of my finished piece. I hope it looks as awesome as yours does. I'm down in Jacksonville, Florida, but i bet you get much prettier Atlantic waves up there! You live in one of my dream spots to visit! Maybe one day I'll get to see your work in person! Thanks so much! Dani!

I wanted to try this right away but the heaviest wire I had was 16 ga copper so I used it & it turned out ok. I think the 12 ga is still a better choice & I intend to make it again when I get some 12 ga wire. After I made the bracelet, I made a ring using the same technique out of the 16 ga. It turned out really well & can be manipulated to wear on any finger because of your design & the lighter weight wire. Thanks a bunch for this inspiring video.

+Making It Easy with Liz Thanks :) Having so much fun with it, I've made 4 more since this one and have started a Valentines collection. Something to keep in mind if using copper.. If you use recycled Electrical wire, it's 98.9% pure copper and has no chance of containing Arsenic. Found this out myself recently.. it also gives a nice effect when 'finishing' the products.

I've watched this twice now, once to see the process & once to remind myself as my memory is shocking? lol.... Really like the organic look & simplicity (I say that before trying one, I suspect you make it look easier than is). the cuff design always works on my wrists as they are smaller than standard. The cuff allows for adjustment, thus a better fit. Going to try one in silver as a gift but I've found even with hammering, the shape doesn't hold/stiffen. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong? I appreciate this video was made a while back so if you can't reply, that's cool. Tfs. C....
@makingiteasywithliz9 жыл бұрын
+inspiredcaroline24 Oh I always reply back, thanks so much for watching. What gauge of wire are you using? I used 10 gauge in the video which is very heavy and 14 gauge works well too...smaller gauges would need to be narrower and lots more "waves", just off the top of my head without experimenting on my own. I hope this helps.

Liz, I am thinking that heating and quenching the piece would release the work-hardening. It also might color the metal. Have you experimented with this? I'm thinking of using my barbeque , or maybe a torch for this.
@makingiteasywithliz7 жыл бұрын
Pete Flynn Hi Pete yes, annealing the wire definitely would make it easier to work with but you would need a torch to reach the high heat needed. I try to teach projects with minimal tools and equipment so its doable for everyone. I don't offer those techniques but are an option for the more advanced. Thanks so much for your great question and for watching.

I love the bare copper wire cuff bracelet! I've just ordered some 10 guage wire to give it a go! :D yayy!! Just a question, doesn't bare copper wire have health benefits for inflammation ext? Also what did you say you treated your wire with? And do you have to treat it with anything or can I just make it and wear it straight away? :D thanks so much for the awesome video!!!!!
@makingiteasywithliz10 жыл бұрын
Hi Tara, thank you I'm glad you like it. Yes, I too have heard copper has benefits for arthritis. I did not treat it with anything other than antiquing it in liver of sulfur. You could seal it with metal sealer but then you would be missing out on the health benefits. It will naturally darken if left out in the open. If you like it bright, don't do anything to it and it will darken on it's own.

i recently made this bracelett, and i really love it, i played around with and adjusted it several times, unfortunatly, i was not able to get it to feel secure enough to stay on. A The time of actually making this bracelett, I only had wire 1.5mm which in americian wire guages is either a 14 or a 16 guage, do you think, that this is the reason, why? im now making the matching earrings for this bracelett, as they look so great, any chance you might be willing to design an atlantic waves necklace, and share it here with us? i fancy bending and looping a wire form neck piece, and maybe, hanging some droplets of beads of some sort off it maybe, at the end of some curved, loops, that could also be awsome. thank you, Liz. Laura Liverpool, England uk.
@makingiteasywithliz8 жыл бұрын
+Laura Aqui This bracelet is best in 10 gauge, maybe 12 gauge but anything finer is flimsy and won't hold it's shape well or stay confomed. Flattening the wire with a chasing hammer a bit will work harden it some and may make a difference. You could also try twisting finer gauges together but might be too stiff to work without annealing it. Thanks so much for watching and your great questions.
@oclove15037 жыл бұрын
Laura Aqui I'm not sure if what I assume is right or not. because 14 or 16 gage would of still worked for you. but my question to you is, are you using copper? what kind of metal was it?. from what I'm guessing, I think maybe you might have used like an aluminum metal. that's easy to bend but as far as holding it's shape, it won't really. And after bending it so much. if it was still easy to bend. it probably is the wrong metal wire you are using. if you purchase wire to attempt this again. make sure you get DEAD SOFT wire. so it will be a little easy at first to bend. but the more you bend, it will start to harden up on you.hope that helps.

What part of Calif? I'm from Gilroy, The Garlic Capital of the World. The cold is OK in the beginning but I rather have it warm. I moved here from Las Vegas so I'm used to the heat.

If the 12 gauge gets to difficult to bend, have you tried annealing it with a propane torch, dipping it in cold water to cool it, bending it and then annealing it from time to time as needed?
@makingiteasywithliz5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have annealed before, but I try to teach things that a person can accomplish with very little equipment. If I'm able to do it with my bare hands, then most people will be able to do it too. Thank you for watching and for your suggestion.

Thank you for your answer...😊To be honest, I'm not use to shop over the internet, and the shipping gets more than product. But, thanks to KZbin and some useful advices of the people I know, I 've found temporary solution...better say two...😉 First would be cutting a piece of plastic cover of a box of Pringles in a shape of pliers and stick it with a glue on the inside part...Second, use isolation tape for electronics and wrap it around plier noses a few times...Maybe, I helped someone too...Bye...😉😊😃

It's amazing what you can come up with in a pinch. I hope that works out for you. Let me know which one works the best. Good luck Ivana

The copper do tarnish after sometime. what can I clean it with to maintain the colour? thanks I love your channel.1000 tumbs up for you Liz

+Mama Pat Dontoh Thank you so much for the kudos! Yes, the copper will continue to darken. You can polish it up with a jewelers polishing cloth and keep it in a zip bag when not wearing it. You can also include one of those desiccant pouches they put in with new shoes, vitamins, etc to keep the moisture out. You can also coat it with a clear lacquer spray for metal, making sure not to overdo it because it will puddle up in the crevices.

Wonderful video. I have a question if you would be kind enough to answer. I've noticed through many of your videos you use copper wire. How do you keep the copper from reacting with skin and turning fingers and wrists green? I'm a fan of the Hulk but not eager to look like him. I appreciate all the videos, you fuel my need to take on a new hobby on a weekly basis.

Joseph Foresta Hi Joseph. Thanks so much for watching. That's a great question and I can only use myself as an example. I never turn green or have any reactions to the copper. Everyone is different and depending on a persons' system (too much acid, metal sensitivities, etc) will determine if they have a reaction. A person should never wear copper 24/7. I always patina my copper with liver of sulfur and perhaps that makes a difference than wearing bare copper. You could use a metal sealer or lacquer on it too just to be sure.

+ Joseph Foresta A thought - I make a lot of copper jewelry and use Renaissance Wax on all of it. Depending on the design of your piece(s), you can clean and wax (and buff) the metal before or after you design. I wax small bits of wire I'm going to add to earrings (but not if I solder the pieces - then I wait) and larger pieces after. This wax might seem pricey but it lasts forever. You can search the web for it, its sold in many places. Nothing keeps copper from eventually turning darker (you can clean with a milk vinegar solution (then clean that with a baking soda solution). It will only turn green on someone who has an acid reaction to it. I sell my pieces and haven't had any complaints. The Renaissance Wax makes a huge difference.

+Jacqualine Marie Baxman Thank you for sharing your very helpful suggestion. I too use the Renaissance wax and love it. Thanks so much for watching.

Hey Liz, Feel like I know you from all of your videos. You make it all look easy. I was your 1000 thumbs up. LOL. Anyway, I didn't check the other comments, but could you use 14g and then maybe hammer to harden? My hands are fairly weak.
@makingiteasywithliz9 жыл бұрын
+Kim Lyons Hi Kim, thanks so much for the kind comment and for your support. You could give 14g a try or even 12g if you could manage it. I would suggest making your waves closer together with more of them for more stability...just an idea and anything is worth a try.
