This is one of my favorite films you have ever done. I didn't laugh once. At the beginning I thought it was a bit funny, and was expecting comedy after the manifestation of the food, which was silly. But after that, the acting was so serious and superb. I felt extremely disturbed watching Joel tell this horrible, timeless myth as though it had actually happened. It disgusted me. Once the film ended, and I got some distance from it and time to think, I was reminded of the poetry of Xu Lizhi, specifically "I swallowed a moon made of iron," and others. Xu Lizhi was a young factory worker in China in a factory which produced iPhones, iPads, game consoles, and other electronics. He was a promising young author and poet. In 2014, at the age of 24, he passed away, by his own hand. You can read his poetry. Thank you Joel and Anton.

holy shit this might be one of his best videos yet, right after press one for more options imo. don't get me wrong, i love his improv stuff and the hyper natural, awkward feel of those videos, but here he managed to capture that some feeling while also making what felt like a tightly structured and well paced story. i'm not articulating this very well but there's just something about this one that makes it resonate as something more than it is. well done!

I watched this video like 8 times before ever realizing it was an allegory for consumerism. I don't know how intentional it was, but either way, it's really elevated the video from great to amazing. Joel has done it again.

now he compares it to dirty sink water, but dirty sink water is also going to get you sick. They need to specify whether the drink also has a health debuff attached to being terrible tasting

Right as Joel was about to snap his fingers, my video paused because it hadn't buffered enough into the future, and then, with the video stopped, there was a burst of thunder, and the video was playing again. It really added to the experience for me, definitely would recommend

I wondered about that, but then also followed up with, how would they even know if that works or is allowed? I suppose Anton could've tried for the sake of appeasing their guilt and just hoping for the best. And then I also thought how much darker of an ending it could've been if Anton drank it and that act of selflessness killed him! Def a great concept if it's making me think this hard, lol

@@Madhattersinjeans I watched this because I am subbed, not because it was recommended, same with the podcast. On top of that, the Trolley Problem discussion was only a segment of the podcast, not the focus. The hypothetical in this video is a twist. The videos don't have any direct overlap, it's purely coincidental. The algorithm couldn't know to recommend these videos based on that aspect. It's just a random coincidence.
