This video is an ad. The thing is, i bought this sander. I got new bosch sandpaper (120 grit), slapped it on and got going, stripping paint from wood pillars was my task for the day. Pros: The sander feels really nice in the hand and the battery cover and using it downside up is awesome. But. The freaking paper clogged in half a minute. I thought okay, I am stupid, never worked with a sander before. Changed the grit to 60. The clogging was manageable but material removal rate was still quite low. The worst part about that was not only that i had to hold the damn thing over my head but the dust extraction was not working properly. Something was creating resistance so that air could not move through the device properly. I had my festool vac hooked up to the damn thing so that could not be the problem. When used without the vacuum, the dust would move through the dust bag and stick to the outside of the dust bag and machine, making cleaning of the machine after every job a neccessity. Ended up vacuuming the dust off the sandpaper every minute to get it to cut again, that was a pain in the a**. I wanted to use it indoors where dust is a big problem. An absolute NO-GO. In contrast, makitas tracksaw (that i also own) has absolutely unrivalled dust extraction which is a bit confusing to me. Ended up switching to the angle grinder to remove that paint which worked perfectly fine. Fast forward: 1 Week later i got a festool sander for my festool vac. This comment should not be an ad but the RTS sander just deletes that paint from existence. With a 120 grit paper on speed one (of 6) I am as fast as this makita sander with max speed and an 80 grit paper. Totally ridiculous. The dust extraction also works like a charm, I can now work indoors and use a fraction of the sandpaper. So... If you want a sander... Either you go cheap and get a more affordable machine than this (this thing is worth maybe 70-80 bucks for me) or spend big bucks (about twice as much here) for a proper festool sander made in germany that is probably 10x as fast as this makita toy.

Does this finishing sander also cause pigtails or swirl marks too? and is the vibration friendly to our hands?

Tried it yesterday at a dealer: it's the most vibration-free I ever tried at my hands. I have a bad hand nerve caused by brushing with a grinder, so I'm pretty aware of machine vibrations. This machine has some springs and it feels very nice to use. No swirl marks on hardwood. However, I'd highly recommend you to check brazilian brand Raimann orbital sanders: they are in a totally different class (even though they are corded, 110/220 dual voltage): 1/2 sheet, strong and silent motor, waaaay cheaper (if you can ever get one), full alloy indestructible body (or polycarbonate if you prefer). Minus side: corded, weight (tiring to use vertically, but a joy horizontally) and no dust collection. I have quite a few sanders (DeWalt roto-orbital, Raimann, Bosch belt sanders, stationary large belt sander, small vertical belt sanders, plus have tried the whole Makita roto-orbital range, including the forced rotation BO6030 - a joy but somehow the gearings breaked in my first corner hit, so not 100% positive experience). Raimann still my favourite.

@@marceloiannini8199 You should try the festool ones, almost zero vibration.

get a rotex pal or use an angle grinder.

You really didn't talk much about actually sanding, nor did you demonstrate actual usage and results. Further, you seem to be unaware of the fact that the size of the orbit tends to differentiate the intended purpose in the spectrum from fine finishing (small orbit) through aggressive material removal (large orbit). A common mistake people make is trying to use a very coarse grit abrasive on a fine finish sander and getting a very unexpected result. Honestly the only information viewers could gain from your video is that you find it hard in your area to obtain a good selection of abrasives! Sanders vary greatly in size and shape of sanding surface, oscillation pattern, dust extraction efficiency, power, speed control, power source, abrasive fixing, quality and durability ... and much more. Saying a 1/3 sheet clamp on cordless Makita is better than a 125mm round velcro fixing cordless Dewalt is like saying grilled trout is better than chocolate ice-cream. In other words ... ALMOST MEANINGLESS ... as the only thing common is that they are food! The cordless 1/3 sheet is a good option for someone wanting to finish flat boards away from mains power and away from a powered DC unit. The Makita is probably at the moment the only 1/3 sheet cordless on the market from a reputable brand. A trend Makita seem to be following is releasing 40V variants of their 18V tools with slightly (and some times drastically) improved performance ... sanders would be ripe for this step up. Look out for this promising upgrade option! A 125mm round palm size sander (particularly when fitted with a soft backing pad and therefore predicating velcro fixing) is a perfect option for uneven, curved surfaces where your typical 1/3 sheet sander would be a complete disaster. The fact is putting "brand name" and "model" in a youtube video description gives you default traffic but it frustrates me when all you find is puff pieces like this. PLEASE improve what you publish or stop putting out bait. I'll just throw one more piece of information your way in the hope that maybe you viewers will read it or that you'll take in the insight and apply it. Abrasives are vastly different and the backing surface, binding material, grit substance, etc are all combined for a specific purpose/intended use. Most "full sheet" products are manufactured for hand sanding and using them at high speed in a sander can cause them to break down prematurely and in some cases result in damage to what you are sanding or damage the backing material on the sander.Common sense would tell you this but sadly common sense has become very uncommon!

I may be a novice but I have this sander and cant even remove paint without major problems like clogging and dust everywhere. Bought a festool product even with higher grit paper and it is SO MUCH FASTER. (no ad btw, just my experience) 140€ for this thing is a lot, the festool costs 270€.
