Thanks so much for posting this! Most people might buy it because it's cordless… I probably will buy it because it has the Makita logo, etc. (I do some of the voiceovers for their promo videos) and it would be ultracool to have this in my kitchen :-)

yea bro ...I hear ya man ..makes god greatest nectar and it's a makita ...but it's really not for kitchen use ...I mean u could do whatever u want with it ...but only brews 4-5 ounces and it's it's very very very slow ...I keep mine in my work shop and in the fall I will have it in my truck ...brewing some Java as I'm mulching and collecting those leaves

Oh, I totally understand that; I'm buying it more for the novelty factor (since I'm one of their occasional voices for their product videos - thinking it might be fun for the occasional job they might set me up to record, to make one of those (s l o w) cups of coffee and drink it while I edit the audio, LOL:-]] |||| Again, more of the novelty/cool factor of having dat in my kitchen - definitely not for large utilitarian use :-)

TOOL BOSS Are you familiar with this Makita Coffee maker? Listed everywhere as Japanese only. How do Americans get it?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKi7eIugp8uNq9U

So is the battery adapter container an inverter to produce AC Power? Both of these connections on the coffee maker look like IEC C14 connectors which are only AC. I would think it it was putting out DC it would be a barrel jack.

Good brushless Coffee Maker review! Hey, I would like to convert a couple of the newer Makita 18V STAR tools to use my well stocked group of rather reliable 18V Ridgid batteries. I understand that Makita batteries have "issues" and although the newer batteries may be OK, I gave up on Makita years ago due to their piss poor batteries which seemed designed to fail. I like the Makita tools, but don't trust their batteries and their excessively fast charging battery chargers. Even if could trust the newer Makita batteries, I would still prefer to use one battery platform. My 18V Ridgid batteries work with my older Dewalt and old Milwaukee 18V tools already. I can do the physical adapter OK, but don't know about any crafty electronics I would have to use for full functionality. Any ideas? Will the Makita tools work with a simple 18V connection like my old Milwaukee and 18V Dewalt tools will? I could add on the 3rd connector OK if I knew what it was supposed to be sending to the tool and this was easy to emulate. Just don't want to buy a Makita tool and not able to adapt it. I have not yet met anyone in my work who has a newer Makita 18V tool for me to check it out. Surely someone would know if a STAR Makita tool will work if one simply connects up 18V leads to it without any connection to that mystery 3rd connector on the battery.

gedgetips well Ridgid batteries in my experience or way less reliable then makita .. I actually kno a guy that runs his ridgid equipment with bosch 18v batterys ...i think u be fine with the new makitas ..they charge fast ..but burn a little quicker then bosch , Milwaukee..but nothing crazy...thsts my experience anyway ... Ridgid n ryobi are garbage

ToolB: Well, yes, the Rigid line of 18V tools have some issues with quality of certain parts like their drill chucks and rubberized covering that tends to wear easily compared to Makita and Milwaukee and Dewalt. Yet, with some modifications the Ridgid tools I have are functioning well with some periods of hard use, so far. The battery issues might be behind them now, as my 2015 batteries have held up well and they are quality Samsung cells which show good balancing in being charged. Previously Ridgid did seem to have poor batteries, but then so did Makita with their 3AH packs not even being balanced in the past with charging and then having one part of the pack DRAIN, then keeping track of number of charges and refusing to charge? What a mess, and Makita apparently were subject to a class action lawsuit, but don't know how this turned out. Makita had major issues with their old battery tech as well, as I just gave up on Makita back in their NiHm days. Still, their tools seem well made and I might return to using their batteries at some point. Anyway, thanks for the quick response and info.

LOL! BTW, as we cyber, I am currently editing another piece for Makita (a voiceover I did, for one of their products). BTW ll, I went ahead and "pulled the trigger" (even though this particular Makita product doesn't have a trigger, per se, like some of their Makita products:-) and purchased the coffee maker on Amazon using prime for about 36 bucks, including shipping. I'll let you know how it works out :-)
