I'm an arborist and I bought the 62cc saw for shits and giggles and 3 weeks in its not a bad saw. I like the ergonomics but I still like my stihls more. I don't like that you need a tool to open the fuel and oil tank.

Hi if you live in the UK try Radmore & Tucker, an EA5000P is most likely the current model

Those clips that hold that top cover are left overs from bosch. They hold the cap on distributors.

Ignore the oil setting for bar length. Set oil to go with fuel. Set 3/4s to 7/8ths of a tank of oil for every tank of gas, never a full tank of oil for tank of gas. Oil is cheap, bars and chains are not.

red stihl I have used Stihls for the past 25 years and they are good but this Makita is much easier to start and has less vibration. Husqvarna are good saws and we have some contacts there so hopefully we can get one on loan but the Makita is going to be hard to beat.

+Skill Builder cheaper Huskys and Stihls can be disappointing to say the least although they both make great saws in the middle to high end but at the lower end they tend to be very hit and miss in terms of quality and usually made in Asia and arnt anything like the normal quality, of course this is reflected in the price. At the lower end I would Honestly say I prefer the cheap echo and makita saws to the major brands

+MultiAlxndr Good feedback. It is a shame that a brand such as Stihl can't stick to its guns. They have to chase the lower end.

The plastic easy start mech broke. Makita gave me another but although it looks the same It's not an easy start type. The bar is too flexible. They've saved cost there. The saw is quite heavy, probably due to this base model having an ally chassis. With a decent bar it should cut straight on 18" logs. it wasn't cutting fast in this video. I think the quality and design is very high at the £300 I paid. I also use bio bar oil, free from a cafe in 5 gallon containers...

+Jez Atkinson Thanks Jez I had some feedback from a guy who sells a lot of Stihl and his opinion is that this is a good saw for stating up but you are better off changing the bar and chain as soon as you can. I have used the saw a lot now and I like it but I am not a tree surgeon. I just like having a saw that is easy to start and Makita have that sorted except when they send you the wrong part of course. We used a bit of slow mo on the video but , yes it was not full throttle. I think we need to do another video on this as I have used it quite a bit now.

+Skill Builder It was my fault the starter broke. I accidentally put chip fat oil into the petrol tank and although I didn't start the engine and rinsed it out twice it was a somewhat reluctant starter for a tank or so, kept flooding when not running.... I neglected to mention that to the dealer.... On the subject of used cooking oil a pro said that they turned the oiler up to max and ran diesel through the pump as a cleaner if they had any bacterial problems. It's not so good if you leave it in for a year, although still liquid in the pump it had dried to ear wax on the bar and I had to loosen off everything to get the chain moving; though soon as it warmed up and had fresh oil pumped through it was fine. This in a back up 80s Partner S55. I've switched the bar and chain to that and fitted Oregon items. Not yet run it though as I always run my saws dry.
