I love makita. One thing I've noticed with owing makita Tools and working on the job sight is that makita is mutually respected by all the other fan boys. A Milwaukee or Dewalt guy will be quick to say the other brand is garbage but hand them a makita tool and they will almost always respect it for what it is. It may not be there color but they will like it and use it and always have good things to say about it.

My favorite thing about Makita. You know who actually owns Makita? Makita does. Nearly every other tool brand has sold out to an umbrella corporation. Nothing good ever comes from an umbrella corporation. Milwuakee is owned by Tectronic Industries. Who the F is that? Dewalt is owned by Stanley Black and Decker. Not my idea of quality.

@@superiorbeing95 Well it's quite clear that you knowledge of business is lacking. But what would I know with graduating summa cum laude with a major in business management and minor in marketing. First of your "Mr. Makita" is in fact..... Mr. Mosaburo Makita. Secondly, are you under the impression that banks run, or have any influence in, the companies that they loan money to? A bank loaned me money to buy my house, that doesnt mean they have any influence in how I earn my living to pay back the loan. Neither do investors, outside of taking their money elsewhere. Makita is different and better because they do not have a diversified portfolio. If an umbrella corporation that holds 12 different brands lets one brand slip in quality and folds, no big deal. They have 11 other brands to float the company. If Makita makes bad tools and loses its reputation, then guess what, there is no Makita. Makita has no room for making sloppy products, so they ensure that they don't.

Bingo! I've already been burned by Stanley-Black and Decker with the brand shell game where they suddenly zombied Porter Cable cordless and suddenly revamped Black and Decker and Craftsman cordless tools. Luckily, I was just at the beginning of my acquisition of tools. I bought corded tools because more of the work I've had to do - there's power available, and switched to Makita for the cordless bits that make sense fror me. I chose Makita precisely because they have no other brand - so its one skin in the game for them no marketing shell game to hide behind, and secondly, they actually design their own electric motors for their tools - they do not buy third party. AvE tear downs of some of the Makita stuff also showed the quality of manufacture and use of good components - for example the 18V lithium batteries are Samsung with a sophisticated battery management system and the battery capacity ratings are UNDERRATED. The tools are solid.

I don’t get why Makita doesn’t just knock out Milwaukee and make their tools the most powerful as well. Only bad thing I can’t raise the saw up and down. But I only rip 3/4” stock. I’m a precise person installing cabinets and does fine cutting fillers. But Makita needs to step it up. That 6095D 9.6V cordless drill with the torque settings was an awesome seller and converted so many of us! You know the cordless tool market wouldn’t be what it is without Makita showing Milwaukee or Black & Decker what was possible.

When you're starting out getting into using cordless tools, research is a must. I don't remember how long I spent researching and feeling out different brands of tools before narrowing it down to Milwaukee, Makita and Hitachi. I ended up going with Milwaukee, mainly because I went to university in Wisconsin and I currently live in Dongguan, which is where TTI produces most of their tools (I have several close friends at TTI). I do have some corded Makita and Hitachi tools and they work great, so the choice I had to make was quite difficult. I truly believe that if you're considering going in the trades, Milwaukee and Makita are your best choices. I am not a DeWalt fan, never have been (maybe I just don't like yellow and black).

The new brushless drill & driver I picked up recently to replace the ones I had (still working but wanted the new ones) are friggen amazing. I had 18v DeWalt tools for years back when they we NiCad. They worked well but were heavy and the batteries completely shit the bed after 2 years. Other brands were starting to transition over to lithium but DeWalt was slow to show up the party. I took a chance and bought a Makita lithium impact driver kit and was blown away by it's compactness, light weight, power, fast charging and how long it would hold that charge. Soon I either sold or gave away all my DeWalts and made the full transition to Makita. Now it's been about 15 years and I've amassed quite a collection of tools, chargers and batteries. And what's really amazing is the 15 year old batteries are still good but need a little alteration in order to fit the newer tools. The only issues I've ever had with Makita tools were the chucks on my two hammer drills and to a lesser extent, the hex shank chucks on the impact drivers and of course worn out brushes but that's to be expected. Otherwise I've been beating on these things for years and they just keep on working!

But for carpentry Makita is a better choice, a tried and true, durable tool (as seen by Home Depot rental center's use of mostly Makita). Every framing crew uses the Makita circular saw. Their routers, chop saws, planers, sawzalls, and grinders are some of the best. Oh and by the way, maybe I shouldn't say but when I worked there the chainsaws were all Sachs-Dolmar German made (owned by Makita) and the compressors were rebranded Eagle, made in USA (who I believe they also owned at least in part).

Hello Red Have you ever thought of doing a segment on what the line of power tools are for the DYI. Prosumer or Professional . I consider myself a professional as a Aircraft Mechanic. So keeping up with latest developments in power tools is a must!!! Right now I am using Hitachi drill and impact driver 12 volt. I have had great success with the Hitachi tools. Otherwise, thank you for another Great Video.

i'm a makita guy ever since working with my uncle in the shop and him using his 30 year old makita grinder all the time.... i have all the following in 18v: 2 brushless drills, 3/8 brushless impact, 1/2 brushless impact, brushless sawzall, jig saw, the brushless circular saw, the 18in hedge trimmer, and even the small makita vacuum cleaner (got on clearance at home depot for 70 bucks with a battery!) and one thing that impresses me about makita stuff is i've abused the heck out of these...and they all work great, i forgot one drill in the bird bath doing some work on the fence and it filled with water and i found it a week later...still worked great, also i have had 1 18v battery that is like 7 years old now and it still holds an excellent charge....i have had one little battery die out on me, but the big battery is the one thats 7yrs old...

They make fantastic tools the one thing I found with makita there batteries tend to fall apart mind you that’s because the cells last so dam long lol 🔥

I have an old, RED, Makita 6 inch circular saw that I've used for 25 years. Best power tool that I've ever had, and I've had everything from Milwaukee down to Drillmaster.

I started out purchasing only Makita tools but after I started making more and more money I switched over to Festool. I still use mostly Makita's 18v line on the jobsite where there are other workers or for general construction. But in the workshop or when I am doing finish work for a client I bring the Festool. they are my 2 brands and love them both.

I've had a drill driver from Makita for about 5+ years for DIY stuff around the house and it still works great. I recently bought their subcompact 18v impact/drill set for that reason.

I did a lot of research on the tools and the batteries and Makita seemed to be the best overall. Plus, we used to use a lot of Makita tools when I worked for a cabinet maker. I've spent a small fortune on Makita tools but I have never regretted any of them.

The color variation of the Makita brand was inspired by the ranger hero TV genre in Japan. The only one they are missing is the hero red one which will become their strongest tools.

For heavy mod work, working with galvanized steel. Whether I’m drilling or cutting. I’ve only ever had my 1/2 inch drill over time blow out on me. Other than that. For all my service work, or mount swaps. Every other personal tool I own (All being Makita, besides technically some Craftsman since I bought them for at home, for my wife.) have not failed me yet. I love the color blue and Big Blue makes some damn good quality tools.

The Makita XBU02PT1 is the best cordless leaf blower kit on the market. A dual charger, four 5v batteries and the leaf blower for $320. That's what sold me on the Makita 18V line and nearly all my cordless tools Makita now. Great price/performance across the board.

I love every one of my Makita tools. Being in pretty much all of the well known brands, I have great appreciation for each one. But, I just enjoy using my Makita stuff, maybe more than any other brand. They’re just comfortable, ergonomic and smooth operating. I also really like my Hitachi Triple Hammer, as it has a very similar feel to Makita’s impact drivers. Smooth. I feel that if you use your tools to make a living and you don’t specialize in one thing, then you’re best off being in multiple platforms to open up your options. I’d say if I had to pick only two brands it would be Makita and Milwaukee hands down. Between the two, I can accomplish a wide array of tasks efficiently and enjoyably. In the shop, in the yard, on the job, on the vehicle and so on... the only problem I’ve experienced with Makita is the spindle in the plastic chucks on their lighter duty drills becomes wobbly, which happened on my sub compact drill driver as well as my 12v CXT brushless hammer drill and after only minimal use. It was disappointing to me to see this happen as I really liked using both of the drills. Still my favorite brand regardless and I just wouldn’t recommend buying a drill with a light weight plastic chuck from Makita. Although, I have a brushless LXT drill/driver with a plastic chuck that’s solid as a rock so maybe it’s just those two smaller models that have problems... Enjoyed the video.

I have one of the black and white “mini” lithium impact drivers (10.2 volt), that I bought almost ten years ago. I have literally used the piss out of it. The tool still works great, and the batteries still last for a long time. Definitely have got my money’s worth and no complaints.

There is no ugly. Its good brand with good service centers and many shops. Bosch tools do not beat other pro tools in stats. But, people who have serious bosch tools in europe that are 20 years old. Guess what, they still work. I just finished demolition of my old bathroom with 30 years old bosch rotation hammer

I was torn on Makita vs the Milwaukee fuel line. Finally settled on some Makita tools based on what I wanted after a lot of research. But one thing anyone using the big three can agree on: the competition keeps innovation and pricing good for all of us. In general, you can't really go wrong with Makita, Milwuakee, or DeWalt. Not a fan of Ryobi, but I like the options they're bringing to the table.

Regarding the Makita presence in home depot, I've talked to the department manager and he said if I he could he'd downsize the Makita display because he sells so much more Milwaukee, DeWalt and even Ridgid. That's gonna vary by region and store but it does go along with the indication that Makita has higher sales to more industrial customers that don't go to home depot very often. ACME tools and Ohio power tool seem to run some pretty good deals on Makita and I suspect they sell quite a lot of it. I've heard pretty much no complaints about Makita for durability. In terms of performance they're really pushing it with their current top impact driver and their 36v circular saw looks like it's really close to the fastest on the market. One thing that you either love or hate is the 2 battery 36v system. On one hand it allows higher powered tools without leaving your battery platform but in pinch you can't use just one battery to make a couple last cuts. The other thing Makita messed up on is many of their tools such as 36v circular saws and a few other 36v tools is they made the space between the batteries and below them too small to future expansion with 21700 cells. They could probably get up to an 8.0ah battery but anything more would be too tall for several tools. I think that's why they are bringing out the 40v system, so that they have a heavy duty battery that can be expanded upon in the future. But the only issue with the 40v is you have to have a 10 cell pack, or you can't get 40v. In order to get more than 4.0ah in the current cell capacity they'd have to do a 20 cell battery which would be even bigger than Milwaukee's, DeWalt's, and Bosch's 12.0 batteries. Now 4.0ah at 40v is still a ton of power and I suspect most users won't have any trouble keeping a charges battery on hand, I wish Makita would look ahead in terms of their battery systems to account for increases in output and capacity. The other side to that is I like that they're not just copying Milwaukee, DeWalt and Bosch by making a 12.0 battery. Not that 12.0 is bad but Makita is clearly going their own way. Great video as always Bear!

I've been a makita tool guys since the 70s! Went through all of the Japan badging in the 80s & 90s. And when other guys lines of tools died on the jobsite, I dared them to come asked to barrow mines to finish a cut or a hole. As soon as my old Craftman's died, it was replaced by a Makita. I have over 12 cord and cordless Makita tools that are 30 years or holder. The bodies usually will fall apart before the tool stops working!

When it came time to purchase new tools, it had to be Makita. I did a lot of research and asked tradesmen what they prefer and why. The number one answer was Makita, my neighbor who is a very experienced journeyman electrician said that it's the only brand he's ever used where the battery didn't eventually come loose and start falling out on its own. Others said "because they just work dependably." Doing research online, I honestly couldn't find anything people were saying that was bad...besides the color. lol In all fairness, the second favorite of people asked seemed to be Milwaukee, but again the neighbor said he's even had Milwaukees have that battery issue. Thanks for the video, I've been waiting for you to do something on Makita!

My first cordless drill was a Makita that looked exactly like the one the Bear used in his video that he said he bought at a pawnshop. I Bought it new off one of the tool trucks that visited the lawnmower shop that I worked at. It was 7.2 volt NiCd, reversible single-speed. Came in a plastic case with a charger and a flashlight. I believe it was around 1982 or 83. I used the heck out of that little drill, replacing the battery three times I think, before selling it at a yard sale in about 2010. The batteries would STILL take a charge but didn't last long.

Bought my first 18v bag set with light, charger, Saw,, impact, and drill in 2009 few years after I graduated high school. I talked out houses in Portland Oregon HVAC New construction installs two houses a week for a couple years. Then move back to California and work for an electrical contractor for a few years. Got my swimming pool contractors license and I’m still using the same Makita set. I’ve only burned up maybe three batteries in all those years. And just This summer 2019 my drill chuck finally went bad after many years of hard abuse and working in wet and muddy conditions
