For some additional context: There are a couple reasons for why the standard of education is so low in this world. A) Still a strong divide between the wealthy and the poor, meaning that few of those without talent and money can enter any educational paths. B) Magic can solve a lot of problems, which is why the Hyumans don't have a lot of interest in science. C) There's basically no reason to have elementary level schools in the world. All that Hyumans need to do to understand, read and write common language is to pray to the Goddess. An important part of early education in our world - and by extension a major reason for having schools - is to learn to read and write, but in this world it's automatic. If you combine these factors, it's sensible that there's no value seen in general education. Those with money can purchase a tutor for further studies, those without money will have to live with doing menial work or becoming an adventurer if all else fails.
