I actually have this album in my collection of old school gospel. Growing up as a child my father was a preacher, when he first accepted Jesus as his personal Savior every week he would buy a Gospel album. In my neighborhood as a child everyone would listen to Gospel music on Sunday morning whether they went to church or not. As a child one day my father gathered all of his albums together and put them in a box, I asked him what was he going to do with the albums, he said he was going to throw them away, I asked him can I have them and he gave them to me. I am 61 years old and I still have the albums and I still listen to them. Because of the example of being a Christian and godly man that my father demonstrated before me no matter where we went, I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of 7 years old and I am still living for the Lord to be an example to others who I come in contact with that living for the Lord and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ is the best life to live. I am also a preacher. When I was a child my dad asked me what did I want to be when I grow up, I told him I want to be a preacher just like you, when my dad passed back in 2013, his 98-year-old aunt that helped raise him told my family that when my dad was eight years old he told her he wanted to be a preacher when he grew up I never knew that about my dad my whole life truly he was a blessing to me, actually my grandmother spoke all my life when I was a child and told me I was going to be a preacher when I grow up. I pray that these few wordsHave encourage someone today have a blessed day on purpose.

These words are absolutely encouraging! I'm 17 and also a pastor's kid, I actually found out about the Gospel Clefs about 4 years ago through the internet, and it is safe to say it's one of the most wonderful pieces of music our wonderful Lord has inspired! I plan on buying a second hand Gospel Clefs vinyl for Christmas for myself, haha! When I'm older, I'll be showing all of this beautiful music to my children. Have a very blessed day!! Thank you for sharing your story.

Herb Kent passed away on Saturday evening. No words can express our great sense of loss. Herb was an iconic talent, who for nearly 70 years entertained millions of listeners in Chicagoland and around the world. His passion for radio and work ethic was second-to-none as Herb worked to the very end, by hosting what unexpectedly was his final V103 broadcast on Saturday morning. Herb leaves a legacy of thousands of entertainers he helped boost, community causes he impacted, and as a former instructor at Chicago State University, sharing his encyclopedic knowledge with hundreds of students. We are so thankful for the privilege of working alongside such a historic figure as Herb Kent for the past 27 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Herb's family, friends, and loved ones. - Matt Scarano, Region President iHeartMedia Chicago Herb was our radio superhero. While I'm incredibly sad, I hold so much joy remembering the fun times we've had with him and the smiles he brought to our faces. Herb will hold an eternal place in our hearts. - Derrick Brown, Director of Urban Programming iHeartMedia Chicago

If you grew up in the 757 in the 70's, 80's, or 90's and you were up at 6:00 a.m. this song was how your school day started. I think Rev. L.E. Willis used this to lead off his " Crusading for Christ" program also with this song. I was going to Norfolk State in the early to mid 90's and when I would decide to stay at home instead of the dorm "Open our Eyes" would all was come on just as I was crossing the High Rise Bridge on my way back to NSU. As a child 11-13, I first visited a Black church that our neighbors use to attend, there was a group from Baltimore, who sang this song, and let me say that it has been in my life ever since. That song and the expression of emotions in that church captivated me, and since I have attended many Black churches. Whenever I can, I play it, and it just takes me back and draws the tears out of my eyes. It is a beautiful song, with lots of meaning. The family that took me there, and were our neighbors for many years, are now all gone, and I truly miss them. May they all rest in peace.

I had the auspicious opportunity to go to Dental Tech. college with some of them. A sister and 3 brothers. One day I came in singing this song. One brother came in and was listening to me, and said you got a nice voice. I thanked him and continued to sing, and he said you got a few words wrong. I said Oh yeah? How would you know? His reply because I wrote it. That shocked me. I asked him a few verses, and he corrected what I got wrong. As I continued, he said not now, we gotta go to class. Sit with us at lunch and I will give you all the words. I was glad. He said he wrote this song because when his family came up from the south, and he saw the condition of our people, he began to pray these words and later he decided to put music to it, and recorded it. The lead singer, one of his brothers could not make it to the session of recording, so at the last minute they called a church member who did show up and they were able to complete the recording. If anyone wants the words, I have them in my heart. I will share them with you.

I truly love and appreciate this song I grew up hearing this song as I fell asleep. Herb Kent , (The Cool Gent) would play it as his sign off song. I would love to have the original lyrics since I know that I’m guilty of improvising some of the lyrics many times because I have always felt that the message in this song is truly Timeless. My e-mail is wileyd7@yahoo.com Thank you 🙏🏿 and GOD bless you for writing it.

@@dannywiley5547 He said his brother was suppose to sing the lead, however he couldn't make it. "Father: Open Our Eyes, that we may see, to follow thee, Lord, Grant us they loving peace, & let all dissension cease. That our faith, each day increase, & Master, Ohhh, Lord Please... Open Our Eyes. He has given us hills & mountains, He has given us level plains, He has given us food & clothing, given us shelter from the storm & rain. And with all that He's provided, we're always hurting (hurting)each other, seems that we just can't be contented, always fighting (GRACE) one another, so look upon us with compassion, & please hear us, hear us when we cry, and smile down on your helpless children, Ohhh & Master, Father Lord, Come on, Come on YEAH Open Our Eyes." THANKS FOR ASKING FOR THE WORDS...

We need to open our eyes opened to the fact that Black people need to get back to the god of our fathers that these gospel songs represent. Following the world governed by the enemy brings us to murdering each other and losing our children to the system. Pray.
