The song is written "Malagueña" with " ñ " and It is the toponym of the city of Málaga in southern of Spain. This piece is the sixth movement of the Suite Andalucía (1933) composed by Ernesto Lecuona (1895-1963), who also composed its lyrics in Spanish. This song has since been adapted to pop, jazz and musical bands (military and bugle and drum) and lyrics have been composed in several languages.

Malagueña is Spanish in origin, style and influence. The composer, Ernesto Lecuona, was Cuban; however, in 1924, he went to Spain to live and perform. In 1928, Lecuona composed Suite Andalucía, his homage to the southern region of Spain by that name. Andalucía includes the Province of Málaga. Malagueña is the sixth movement of Lecuona's Suite Andalucía.
@wesleyhill492210 жыл бұрын
Runaway; I am so grateful for what you have explained about Ernesto's past and how it is that he wrote so many songs that describe the geography and culture of Spain and the Iberian peninsula! The Moors being forced out of Spain in 1492...the year Columbus sailed "the ocean blue"...the Christian monarchs; Ferdinand and Isabella apparently didn't have the good sense to appreciate the fountains and architecture of "Granada"! My understanding of the term "Malaguena" is that it's a tribute to the beauty of the women who resided in Malaga, Spain!
@MegaMatojo10 жыл бұрын
Eh Pancake he dint go to live in spain in 1924, but much, much more later. He wrote most of hes work in Havana, he live and tour NYC form an Orquest "Lecuona Beach Boys" I think was the name, it was later with Castro that he went to live in Spain.
@RunawayPancake110 жыл бұрын
MegaMatojo Hey Mega - I think you're correct, sort of. He didn't go to live in Spain in 1924, but he did travel there (and other parts of Europe) in 1924, staying to perform and work for an extended period of time. In 1960, disenchanted with the Castro regime, he moved from Cuba to Tampa, Florida, USA, which was his principal residence until his death in 1963. Cheers.

Of all the music that has been written and performed there are four pieces that grip my soul - Johnny Be Good (Chuck Berry), Silent Night (sung in the original German language), Amazing Grace (played on bagpipes), and, of course, Malaguena (almost any version, on any instrument or arrangement). I do not know what grips your soul or caresses your emotions, but these are my selections. also Ghost Riders in the Sky (that makes 5 easy pieces)

The Spanish guitar exudes in its notes the culture and soul of the Spanish people. We need not wait long, in its first notes there emanates a charm, a spell, a magic that tells in musical notes an ancient culture, an intellectual and artistic achievement dating back to pre biblical times. They carry it in their genes. It involves and penetrates the listener with a veil of mystery, fascination, enchanting and mesmerizing grace and allure. It is eminently popular and at the same time pure and classical where both elements mix together and it is extremely hard to sort out where the popular is overtaken by the classical or the other way around. Unique, unparalleled and incomparable.

@hellNo1168 жыл бұрын
marino4691 well I am no Buckethead. I am trying to be a metal guitarist. However I really like classic guitar as well so right now I am conflicted
@jawaidmanzoor43966 жыл бұрын
Any quality electric guitarist with good control on chords can move to Spanish style. The difference is the right hand with so many variations that are constantly developed by these guitarists in their own style. The other is the feel unique to its genre that you need to develop. One way is to constantly listen to this music. Flamenco is wild that a player constantly improvises during a performance. Something that a jazz instrumentalist also does.
