I bought one of the cheaper ones just recently and for the price it is good - the UI is clunky but OK when you get used to controlling it all from the single knob, the touch screen is resistive and quite inaccurate to use with a finger (use the stylus), the speaker is very good, nice and loud; lot of internal interference from the screen but you can double tap the display to turn it off, which helps. When it works definitely very good value, solidly made, nice metal case and pleasant to hold, sounds fine. Mine only worked for a day though then went completely deaf (tested using my main antenna, fine with my SDRplay, nothing on any band with the portable). A bit disappointing. I ended up returning the unit and ordering a Malahit DSP2. Yes more expensive but I think I'll be having a lot more nerdy fun with that once it gets here from China.

Looks like the cheap one is off frequency. The Malahit is more user friendly. IMO. Also, nice NR and NB on the Malahit. Thanks for the video.

I wonder if the DSP2 can be used with an SDR antenna switch? Rig control is probably not possible without software but, it would be interesting.

I have one on order and hope it is all that it seems to be - cheap, cheerful but effective.

I prefer the more traditional landscape radio format of the cheaper one with the dial at the side, rather than the beefy HT portrait took. Shame they didn't sell the DSP2 in the UK for around £270. I don't trust uk banggood or alliexpress and the trust pilot reviews only make me more paranoid on returns/warranty or lack thereof, and that people have had to pay customs/fees on top judging by reviews on TP. Prices from UK sellers are around £400-£500, and I wouldn't pay that for a DSP2. As for the landscape radio, I think the latest is a DSP 1 - 1.10 V5 ?

I know the Malahit is rather expensive, but if you have the money to spend, the built quality is so good, almost insane! It is lovely to look at, sounds amazing, has Hi-z for shortwave that brings oodles of sensitivity if your antenna is not very brilliant. For a 75 pound radio it is great, but the Malahit plays in another league...

Pound for pound they are both good choices the sdr1.0 is more portable choice .

I have of this too but couldn't update a firmware ( yes I'm already in update mode as described in this video) . As I plugged a USB to my laptop got a warning text on screen like " Unrecognized usb device" . Other than that the radio works just fine. 73

The speaker of the cheaper one sounds much less powerful than the DSP2. And it seems that it doesn't have the spectacular Noise-Reducktion.

The DSP2 is alot better but it's £250 instead of £80

IT is an unfair comparison.! Cheap one Supports only some Bands up to 2m Band. Malahit Supports Everything from 20 KHz up to 2 GHz (small Range in Military Band 350-400mhz not) So Malahit ist much more versatile.... If Adequate antenna will be provided.
