Muslims, learn about Islam. Understand your religion so that no one would twist things and cause doubts for you with lies. It's alright for those who intend to do evangelism to do it in the right way and no one would hold them accountable for doing that. However, deliberately twisting verses of the Qur'ān is an insult and an attack against Islam and Muslims. If Christian evangelists desire a debate about Islam and Christianity, they can call for it and they would get a good debate in-shā'a Allah. To go on air and openly pick verses of the Qur'ān to twist and concoct lies against it to defame the Qur'ān, blackmail the Prophet or insult the Muslims is not only barbaric, it is uncivil and inciting. I want to plead with our Christian neighbors, families and friends to please approach their evangelism with respect. Wherever and whenever they desire to have a debate about the Qur'ān and Islam, they are free to call for such debates. If it's worthy, those who need to respond would do that and everyone can learn with mutual respect. However, resorting to lies, blackmail, deliberate distortion and other uncivilized tools that many evangelists are using today is not healthy for our community as Nigerians and for our nation. We can learn and discuss ideas but we should never resort to insult, lies and blackmail. If their evangelism allows that, our Islam does not allow it and the nation surely does not allow it too. In conclusion, Muslims, please learn about your religion. Those who intend to mislead you would bank on nothing except your ignorance or weakness in your faith.
