I felt/feel when she said she’s living by what society wants, what others want your life to look like. I have been living by others expectations for years. Now, I feel others won’t like the “new me.” It’s not new to me because this was who I was always meant to be. No more! Decluttering has helped me so much. I love you channel. I just subscribed a week ago. Love your slow living videos. Inspiring 😇

I understand this completely. I feel like people are so used to the old me and, the big thing, my negative self talk. I wonder what others might think if I eliminated that and spoke more positively about myself.
@Mindaaayroxs4 жыл бұрын
@@delaynadalton exactly. I’m a very “happy, positive, spontaneous” person and I noticed when I’m alone, I’m calm, relaxed and very collected. The way I have been portraying myself is to entertain other people. To know I’ve been doing that for years saddens me. We can only be honest and true to ourselves. People will love us for the “new” us and if they don’t, there’s billions of other people who will accept us 🙏🏼

Mental is a big one for me. Focussing on what you can actually influence is so much easier, rather than trying to evaluate the outside world. Simplyfing what I consume (books, podcasts, KZbin etc.) and really focussing what serves me or brings me true positive joy helped me a lot to build a strong mindset. Thanks for sharing your tips! Super inspiring.

You are so right Andy! Something that I have been working on is just staying in my own lane and focusing on my journey. Also, one of my goals for 2021 is to really be careful about what I consume. Meal planning has saved us lots of money and we rarely eat out unless it's pre-planned. We're spending about 30-40% less now and it makes cooking and shopping so much less stressful. Also feeling lighter and less burdened since stepping away from negative people and those whose values systems are completely opposite to my own. Thank you for sharing these tips Sophie. As always, it is a pleasure to watch your videos. Blessings from Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺

Thank you for making this video. I used to live my live unconsciously which resulted in the mental and material clutters, moments of happiness that are not sustainable. Daily yoga (physical and spiritual) has made me more aware and more sustainable joy now that I'm not depending on external stimuli...still a long way to go but I can see/feel the improvement in my overall well-being. 75% of the time, I now eat what my body needs not what my tongue wants, my body feels good and not sluggish or bloated. Inner Engineering book by Sadhguru is a book I would recommend (the book is better than the audio).

I wanted to share something. What I wanted from life was to be financially independent and choose the career I love. But, the outside noise of "hustle and grind" made me lose sight of what I really wanted. As a result I picked up two side hustles along with studies, and eventually that led to a burnout. Along with all these, I was facing some huge problems in my relationships. I was feeling completely empty. But then, I realised something. I needed to simplify my life. To cut out extra work I was doing; and to cut off people who were not a good match. And, I did that. Here came another big challenge. The loneliness that came with my life choices felt unbearable. I started to feel empty once again and was reconsidering whether the outside world was correct or not. But then, watching some of your videos made me tune into myself, again. Here's what I want to say. When you start simplifying your life / turn towards your minimalism, be prepared to face the after effects of it. And always remind yourself that these after effects are temporary. And you, as a beautiful human being, has the patience to overcome this phase as well. Thank you so much for this video. Sending you love and peace ♡

I resonate with how the work hustle can lead to burnout. In naturopathic medical school and undergrad I worked multiple jobs. I strived hard in my classes. I maintained many friendships. I was on sympathetic overdrive and there came a point in medical school where I decided, or rather did out of burn out, just to let go. Let go of people pleasing, stopped working jobs for money and focused on my studies, stopped emotionally giving all of myself to others, and started allowing others to do things for me. I started to feel lighter, more grateful, and I feel I share myself more authentically. Sometimes I feel lonely and wonder about the friendships I’ve let go of, but it’s not worth the inauthenticity I was feeling. Since I started allowing help in and expressing gratitude, my relationships have felt more balanced.

Great video Sophie!! I agree with everything you’re saying! Working with an Excel sheet to figure out your budget is such a good idea! Both of our adult kids are doing that now too. Paying off the high interest debts first, then proceeding to the lower interest debts is crucial to getting financial stability. Seeking help from a financial planner and setting goals provides motivation and satisfaction over successes! I like your part about letting go of relationships with people who bring us down. Finding positive people is addition by subtraction. It works!

I saw your videos in my recommendations. The first one was "Boring" life, since then, I haven't stopped watching your videos. I love how slow, relaxing, and simple your videos are! I learned so much new things and new habits coming from you. I am a quiet and serious type of person with whoever I talk to, even my family, cousins, and friends. Sometimes my friends / cousins don't like the way I am and so I stay away from them and make a distance and cut off communications because it's not worth it and I learned that focusing on improving myself and loving myself is much more important than gaining the approval and recognition of some people. I also think that living a simple and mediocre life is better than rushing everything because time will come where I can be financially independent and have a simple life. Thank you so much for making high-quality videos! I subscribed to your channel because you inspired me.

Thank you for this reminder to create the life i deserve and want. Im letting go of people and love ones that have been toxic and use me only for what i can give them or what they can get from me. This includes my own mother- it has been a long many yrs, and i finally decided that enough is enough, i need to just let them all go and focus more on what i’m supposed to be doing in this life! It’s very hard and painful but i have to aknowledge the feelings and move on. Im grateful for this channel, just run into this today after a very excruciating exchange and confrontation of my own mother who is a pathological liar, use deciet and manipualtion to get what she wants. I feel so used and abused for so many years. Thought she will change but i’m just fooling myself, she never cared to nurture our relationship for whatever is left of it, i am done trying. It’s very hard to describe the painful feeling that this has to end, but to save my life ans not succumb to depression and suicide i have to stay away and cut her off my life.

Thank you for your thoughtful, and timely, video. Oddly enough, Covid was one of the best things that has happened to my wife and I. I was forced to work from home for six months and my wife and I got to know each other again, after 30+ years of marriage. When I went back to work in a building, I realized what an unhealthy environment it was emotionally, and how much of my time was spent preoccupied with trying to decipher what a somewhat abusive supervisor's expectations were. I handed him my resignation, keys, and ID three weeks ago and walked out without saying a word. I didn't "need" the money. We are fortunate, in that we have sufficient income without continuing to work. Focused now on simplifying, reducing consumption, and turning attention to all of those "one of these days" goals we set aside as we chased the dollar, and the approval of people who do not care about us outside of how much we could advance their career goals. My wife says this is the first time I have ever been fully present. Thanks again, and I am now a subscriber.

I wrote down my long list of goals for 2021, but definitely need to narrow them down so it's more realistic and achievable :) So happy you enjoyed the intro Kat! I always appreciate your lovely comment.

Simple living high thinking was previous thought. At present u need to have self glorification making things complex. Ur observation and lifestyle shown in ur channel, is healthy and pocket friendly. It also enables us to save something for future. Nice suggestion, good video.

I want to say that I heard you mention your husband. In watching your videos I didn’t know you had a husband and I would think it’s easy for you to do all these things bc you live alone. It really made a difference in me bc I have a husband too and I don’t slow live. Thank you for doing these videos. It really helps. I guess it doesn’t matter if you are a family of 1, 2 or 5, you can still simple live mindfully.

The video is really pretty. I feel like my mind is being cleansed. The video of you meditating on the beach is especially beautiful. I'm going to the end. Merry Christmas!

Luckily I never overused my phone like this and try to understand why people around me use it so much. The GPS was also a good example; I've always been making the routes by myself as much as possible. I am astonished how little people are aware of there surroundings using auto-navigation. I find it makes every journey or walk more conscious when I don't use GPS or use it less / in a more active way on bigger travels. As for your other points, I totally agree and have made positive experiences with them so far (routines, decluttering, budgeting, journaling...), and still am working on improving my life :) Your videos are comfortably calm, grounding, and inspiring! If you like to make some (more) videos about how exactly you handle finances or aspects of that, I would be interested by the way :)

This is something that I really noticed during my travels. Before GPS, I would find my way around and even discover things on the way there, but I find myself relying too heavily on my GPS now and makes me miss out on the spontaneity. Thank you for your lovely comment!
