Malanichev 2469 lbs / 1120 kgs Raw, 1014 lb Squat - All-Time World Records

Animal will probably post a really detailed video including his warm ups etc., but some of my subscribers asked me to do my traditional deal with all three lifts and music, so here it is. Malanichev totals 2469 lbs / 1120 kgs in just a belt and wraps, and hits the heaviest squat of all time. Of course, a new raw squat compilation is in order... I can't quite keep up with the lifters these days: guys like Malanichev, Kendall, Lilliebridge, and Ray Williams are pushing raw squatting to a whole new level.

FUCKING INCREDIBLE! Most people can't stand up that fast when they get off the toilet, but he did it with over 1000lbs on his back! And just think: an average person who saw Malanichev would stereotype him as slow and fat lol.

Anyone else feel like he's lifting just enough to win the comps and not going 100% ??? Not saying this in a negative way at all. I believe he's doing this to prevent injury and stalling in his training so he can continue to make the best progress possible, while sh*tting on everyone else at the same time. Also maxing on squats can ruin your bench/deadlift strength via CNS fatigue. Obviously there are other variable like that. His bench is the only thing that looked semi challenging. The squat looked like he had another 100+ pounds in him and the deadlift didn't look that hard either. The squat looked like a complete joke. Ridiculous strength out of the hole.

I don't think he gives a damn about winning the comps, lol, he's been breaking WRs almost every time he competes for years now.

He was also feeling quite sick at RUM, which was another reason he passed on his last deadlift. Most good lifters use this somewhat "conservative" approach--look at Carl Yngvar Christensen--although it's hard to call breaking records at every meet you go to "conservative."

To everyone spouting variations of "put some weight on the bar", there are plenty of lifters who either make it look easy, or miss the lift. Brian Siders talked about this often, for example.

My theory is that if he went heavier/ slower on the squat he might have collapsed all at once. I dont think you can 'muscle up' a half ton.

Was wondering why he walked out in a mono lift- must be fed rules- which begs the question if anything is proved by walking the weight, and if that satisfaction is worth one snapped knee.
@powerlifting1986
@powerlifting1986 10 жыл бұрын
He walks it out because that is the way he has trained and competed all his life. Malan isn't showing off here--you just have to accept that there is some inherent danger in lifting weights and we can't escape that. Some of the most grisly injuries I've seen are BECAUSE of monolifts with multiply squatters... there is a much bigger chance of a spotters arm being pinned between the mono or the chains and the barbell. It's actually quite dangerous.

There's raw with wraps and raw without wraps. With wraps is generally recognized as raw by most larger feds. However, the ipf qualifies raw as without wraps. With a sport as splintered as powerlifting, it's a bit difficult to make such all inclusive statements.

You can't even compare Coans gear (wraps and suit) to just the knee wraps that he has here. Huge difference.

Also it is irresponsible for them not to use safety chains or straps on that mono.
@powerlifting1986
@powerlifting1986 10 жыл бұрын
The problem is that when a lifter walks the weight out, he can't really drop it onto the chains because he is behind where the center of gravity is. What would have happened if Malan dropped 1,000+ onto safety chains is that it would have violently swung forward into the spotters, likely pinning them between the monolift and the barbell. You'd have a 460 kg barbell swinging back and forth. Any time you have 1,000 on the bar, there is an unavoidable risk of injury, but with experienced spotters, the lifter is generally fairly safe, though the spotters are in some danger. Just look at the IPF--no safety chains, and there are 460 kg squats done there too (just in suits).

As another poster said, he is there to catch lifters if they lose control of the bar or pass out. I have passed out deadlifting at a meet without any 'creepy dude' to catch him and I hit the floor like a sack of potatoes. I wasn't injured, but I probably would have been if my face hit the barbell. It does look weird, though.
