About the show:
Inter-racial marriages accounted for at least 1 in 5 unions here in Singapore in 2013. On The Red Dot explores the dynamics of these marriages across cultures and religions through 3 couples who are at different milestones of their lives. Throughout the four-part series, they share their relationship ups and downs and how their different backgrounds impact their lives as couples. In each episode, we bring together one member from each couple to share their experiences and seek advice for a milestone they each strive to achieve. Their rich discussions explore everything from dating, wedding rituals and preparations, family acceptance, bringing up children and growing old together. In sharing the trials and triumphs of their inter-racial marriages, they discover that there are just as many similarities between them as there are differences.

I'm a Catholic, but i'm very impressed about how the Ustaz answered her question. Been seeing a lot of political ustaz being too one-sided with their views towards a certain religion. This one, is someone i would listen if he preached about their religion, not to convert to Islam, but to understand and accept our brothers and sisters of different religion. Hope he's always in a good health and really hope to see more ustaz/ustazah like him in the future.

There is only one textbook message/view in Islam in regard to how you treat your parents. You have to take care of them, respect them and never talk back whether they are good or "bad" parents. Some uztaz can deliver the message wisely some others are harshly but the message is the same.

That is because they seek the truth way of life and what is the true teaching in islam but for us born muslim, we are already born in islam so we dont seek the true message and teaching. We take it lightly. They maybe already know other religion teaching and can compare it to our. We cant be like that because we are born muslim. And for that we usually would take everything in islam very lightly. They seek with their whole heart and we dont. And i think they would seek the smallest thing in islam than us like for example how to clean your pants if it got little stain like urine spot when you are praying outside. I dont think many muslim know how to clean what you wear without changing it and do the prayer.

traditional or not its a marriage between two mature adults. and putting the wife in a position to decide on an option like this doesnt make sense. it should never be an option in the first place. unfortunately its the norm among muslims in singapore. why not ask the husband to convert since catholics are very conservative as well. in marriages like this it should just be a civil one. like i said the option should not be there for the wife to choose from. so now the kids will be automatically muslims, do u think the children will have a choice to choose their own. and in islam its more difficult to denounce because the stigma here. i actually know the husband as an aquaintance by the way. the questions the wife asked the ustaz are such basic ones i guess suitable for this docu. and the similarities she mentioned from the old testament is not that similar if u see the differences among the two holy books from their respective religions. so by converting she has also agreed that christ is not the son of god but a mere prophet. so this is more then traditional family values but change in belief system altogether. if she is comfortable with that then why didnt she denounce her faith even before she met her husband. totally not thought through. and she also accepts the fact that christ didnt die and rise again. not sure why one religion must instil their values on another especially even more when love is involved. dont like to rattle on this subject too much and dont mean harm, but its clear there isnt neutral ground or compromise on each's own belief system. Well to each its own and they can live with it thats most important. im sure they will have a happy married life. just that conversion is rather unnecessary. The husband also deviated from the question at the end instead to use social life experiences as an answer and not whether he will agree if their kids do convert in future.

I am European catholic married to a Chinese Buddhist and we respect each other religions and traditions and in the past months we together with our grandkids celebrated Christmas and two months later Chinese New Year and yes they got red packets! Catholics should be careful not to marry outside the Catholic faith because of difference in morals and values.... if you are Catholic in name only, then you shouldn't really call yourself Catholic, you are not practicing the faith. Something that needs to change. Catholicism isn't a club or a racial group, it's more than just a religion, it's Jesus' church, the one he started with St. Peter.

“I believe all express the truth, just in different language.” “If all religions are equally true, then does that mean you would accept everything that all religions teach?” “Yes. I might express it differently, but I believe that deep down we are all speaking the same language.” “So you agree with the Christian religion, which says that Christ is the only way to the Father?” “No.” Mary was unaware of the logical contradiction she had just expressed. She looked at me as if perhaps I wasn’t paying attention. After all, she had just stated that all religions were equally true. Why would I now ask her if she believed the exact opposite? “I’m confused,” I said, gently. “You say you believe that all religions are equally true, but you don’t believe that the Christian religion is correct in saying that Jesus Christ is the only objective means of salvation. Doesn’t that mean that you don’t believe that all religions are equally true?” Is It Arrogant to Believe that Other Religions Are Wrong? Mary became uncomfortable when she saw that she had contradicted herself and dismissed what I had said by saying: “I guess I just think it’s arrogant to believe that your worldview is right and that everyone else’s is wrong.” Not wanting to press too hard, I resisted the temptation to show Mary how her religious indifferentism was itself a worldview that alone claimed to be true while condemning as wrong all opposing beliefs. “Do you believe in the law of noncontradiction? That something cannot be both true and untrue at the same time?” “Give me an example.” “God cannot be the creator of the universe and at the same time not be the creator of the universe.” “Sure, that makes sense.” “Okay, so theism-the belief that there is a God who created the universe-and pantheism-the view that God is the universe-cannot both be true. This is one example of why you can’t rationally affirm that all religions are equally true. The law of noncontradiction forbids it. This does not mean that there cannot be elements of truth in all religions but that all are not equally true. I believe that the Catholic Church possesses the fullness of the truth and other religions are wrong inasmuch as they disagree with that fullness.” What the Church Teaches I then mentioned the passage in the Vatican II document Nostra Aetate: The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men. Indeed, she proclaims, and ever must proclaim, Christ “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6) in whom men may find the fullness of religious life, in whom God has reconciled all things to himself.

Stay strong in the faith, sister in Christ! We cannot do religious works to get to Heaven (Jannah) It is only through Jesus, we can truly be saved. Nothing wrong with having a husband with a different religion, but don't leave your faith in Jesus because of your love for your husband. I pray that our Heavenly Father keep you on the right path, may He keep your faith strong, may His wisdom and guidance be with you, in Jesus Name. Amen

Maybe for others it's a bit off, because they never encountered it, so it's a big giant taboo. Their mufti allowed it...to break the bubbles, from one country to anothers....it differs.
