In 1952 one might see these fishing scenes as a tourist in a beach cabin at Batu Ferringhi. I wonder what this place looks like now. See also my other clips of Penang in 1932 and 1964.

Thank you for that most gracious offer but unfortunately I can not except. Main reason I am still saving for the next trip to Malaysia with my wife and daughter. So please do not feel insulted if I have to decline your gracious offer at this time. However I will definitely come back as soon as I can. You humble me with your Offer Razak and I am grateful for your kindness. Ahhh Malay Customs I miss is so refreshing. You just rekindled another memory I have of Malay Customs thank you

In this video, there is a mountain scenery from a distance. the mountain named as Mount Jerai. I live in the area near the the mountain base. when I saw this video, the things imagined in my mind was my grandfather's ancestors. What do they do when this video was recorded? it would be nice if you come into the area. I can not wait to see the place where my grandparents at that time.thank sir michael

Razak I will certainly come back if you don't mind extending that invitation to me as well. I lived over at Butterworth on the Air Force Base during the early 1970s Robina Park to be precise from whence I traveled each day to go to school on the Island by Ferry to the RAAF School at Hillside. I went back to Penang and Butterworth in 2011. Except for the changes that have occurred to both Penang and Butterworth due to time I felt like I had never left. I am 54 Razak and live in Australia

Don't worry Michael. last time I saw Penang in the 1970s and seeing it again in 2011 I didn't know where I was. Until driving from the Air Port came across the Old Horse Polo field and the Snake Temple nearby I was lost until coming up to Quay Street and seeing the Old Ferry Terminal to Fort Cornwallis I was lost until then. Then it all clicked back into place some what. I said to my driver about recalling the Haj Boat arrivals from Mecca. He said the pilgrims now arrive by aeroplane now

Sir, If you have the time, please pay Penang a visit. Words cannot describe the changes. The strech of this beach cannot be seen from the main road. What you can see is big expensive international holiday resort hotels, and don't waste your time fishing. If you plan to visit, don't hesitate to inform me, i'll be more than glad to to take you around.

No Michael it isn't the same. Like all things places change as time goes by. I like many of my Friends were Royal Australian Air Force Brats who were posted to Malaysia. I first saw Batu Ferringhi in the early 1970s, I went back to Penang in 2011 all of Penang had greatly changed except George Town itself which is under UNESCO Heritage Listing. You wouldn't know Batu Ferringhi if the last time you saw it was in 1952

By the way, where are you from. Youre name does not sound like an English gentleman.

And Razak within a day of arriving back to Penang I felt I had never left to come home to Australia. And those people I came in contact with as soon as I explained why I was in Penang and Butterworth I was treated like a family member who had gone away for a little while and came back home for a visit. I felt like I was in my second home Razak. But I did near well wore my legs of walking around George Town Penang Road Hutton Lane Eden Cafe Little India and many more places
