This activity is believed to have started around the early 1800s with the arrival of Kampar, Sumatra #people. The currency called Nukud semantan had been used and enforced.
The name "Temerloh" comes from Reagan's accent which is "mereloh" : to sleep. This town is used as a transit point for traders or people who wander in the land of Pahang. Temerloh means falling asleep. Often people who stopped to rest would fall asleep. That is the origin of Temerloh's name which is growing rapidly into a district and a city today.
