Malaysia Rompin Macks & Mahi 3D2N Ep 50. Day 1 ONZZ Fishing Adventures

This time I head down to Rompin for a 3D2N fishing trip covering the waters from Rompin to Tioman on the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. The main target was the Spanish Mackerel, known by locals as Tenggiri or Batang. We had good fun!

I went there quite a few times, only caught some small fishes. Boatman need to find spots, took us for a tour.. Once I give them a few thousand on a trip, then reel in big ones.

wow great video and nice action! Sorry to get so detailed but i did noticed that no wire leader was used to catch the macks? Just curious what poundage of mono leader was used in place of the wire? Always thought that the macks would simply bite thru anything other than wire :O Curious to learn new methods. Thanks much buddy!

Ah... the trick is that there IS a very short soft 30lb uncoated wire leader around 12cm long. Look closer n have fun!

I was personally using a SureCatch sinking lure while the other guys were using the Pintail lure.

Hi Tim, yes my main rod was a Pioneer Micro List Pro with a Shimano Stradic 5000 and my spare rod was a PT Angler's Spinning rod with an altitude black gold 3000.

I think it was very small sized hooks, somewhere around size 6 to 8.

what does mahi mahi taste like? trevallies or batang??

Personally, if cooked properly, I think it's much better than the trevallies or batang. The first time I tasted them was in 2000 in Mauritius. The restaurants and hotels in Mauritius often serve beautiful Mahi Mahi dishes. In Tioman we had a solid BBQ'd Mahi Mahi with sambal.

to be truth Rompin have no fish. the fishman from Rompin goes to Merchong to fish. according to my GPS.
