There are to types of popiah here in Msia - the wet one & the fried one (the one which you were eating). The fried one usually consists of turnip (sometimes with some carrots) & it's usually served with chilly sauce.

Those taro balls are actually "wu kok". It's deep fried mashed up yam (not potato) with meat filling (the meat filling flavor is like those char siu pao's meat filling flavour). This dish is also available in the Malaysian dim sum restaurant.

Just an additional . U must try pure malay night market . That u just tried is from made from chinese , actually so many food in Malaysia. Untill 1 years u staying here i'm not sure if u can eat all malaysian food . Huhu ohhh dont forget to get mamak's food is made in from indian .
