7:04 the bitterness you're tasting is from the belly of the fish where the gut normally sits. Good to scrape the dark inner lining of that lower area before eating.
@mizalk2 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, the bitter taste from your first bite could probably be from stomach cavity part of the Ikan Belais (Rabbit Fish). Personally, I'd skip eating this part of this particular fish. Anyway, I'm glad you covered the Sim Sim Food Court - It's one of my favourite spot to eat in Sandakan too.

Luke, top-notch video. Loving your indigenous food, animals, and people combination - genius - so authentic and so you. A vast majority of food lovers are also animal and culture lovers...the three go hand in hand. Finding insightful content for the indigenous people is always going to be hardest for you due to the language barrier. The restaurant that you visited where the owner/chef was a fan of your channel - it's highly likely that he's indigenous. How about you feature the chefs behind the best food you eat in each area...as they are highly likely to be indigenous. If there is a language barrier issue, you can subtitle and/or use KZbin voiceover. Also, if you feature the chef first...he or she will tell you about the best place to see the indigenous animals... Loving your work!
