I checked the dictionary and the correct word is Argentine; but it seems Argentinian is also commonly used & accepted. Malbec will alway have a special place in my heart, because its what's we drank at our wedding. For me the style or mouthfeel of a Malbec is more important than it's place of origin. Generally I've found Argentine ones tend to be more fruity and rich. Whereas often Cahors has more acidity and savory-ness, which is important for me. I know that Argentine Malbec is evolving with higher altitudes, earlier picking and more acidity & freshness. Looking forward to trying & tasting some soon.

I can always depend on you for accurate and thoughtful info on comments. I have often been impressed w more premium ArgenTINE Malbecs and underwhelmed with cheaper ones.

I love getting Argentinian Malbec in a blind line up because it’s go to tell for me is “why don’t I like this?” Don’t know what it is but there’s just something about that grape that doesn’t jive with my personal preferences.

Always loved Malbec, especially the Argentinian ones. Black fruit driven tast bombs. The French ones can be somewhat austere sometimes. But hey I will drink them all !!!

Love Zuccardi! Not just their Malbec, but their Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc are both really good as well! I am very sensitive to Brett in wine, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me if there’s a little on the nose, but none on the palate. I once had a still Pinot Meunier that proved it can be ok 😂

I don’t drink a lot of Malbec. I have the Chateau Haut-Monplaisir Cahors Tradition 2019, I think the Crocus L'Atelier Malbec de Cahors and one of Catena’s appellation Malbecs. I need to try more to broaden my horizon on wine.

Dr Horkey...my wife, at a MH event, had a presentation from Max Riedel obviously promoting his glasses, but the interesting thing was the difference that different shaped glasses make to tasting the same wine. The pinot glasses apparently really made a difference for the pinot noir tastings. Have you experienced this or is this just a good sales pitch? Maybe you could try and thus promote your glasses at the same time? But maybe more importantly are we sometimes not doing justice to a wine by drinking it in the wrong glasses? Champagne flutes have now changed as well and we are all faced with having to buy the new shape. How much does this matter?
@drmatthewhorkey Жыл бұрын
I’ve done two videos on if before on this as it does matter. The two glasses I show in my videos do well with a variety of wines.

It’s also really pronounced mal-BEC and not MAL-bec. I love what you do on You Tube, Matthew- but I taught Spanish for 40 years and am a certified Argentinian Wine specialist. Keep up the great work! David

Few questions - what produces that leather smell/ taste - similar to the first question, what produces that pepper/ Smokey sensation. I love wines that have that… I’m sure it’s a combination of climate + elevation and maybe the how ripe the grape was when picked? - is there a specific etiquette to the type of wine glass to use. Depending on occasion or type of wine maybe? Great video as always!

Some grape varieties can be leathery after fermentation, sometimes that comes with bottle age, and sometimes Brett

Well it was early on in my wine journey. I was watching a movie and tasting the Luigi Bosca Single Vineyard and it was the first time I noticed how much the flavor of the wine changes as it opens up throughout a couple of hours.

Argentine and Argentinian are both correct. The former is the "traditional" latin-based usage coming from British English, whereas the latter is "newer" and more a more Anglicized way of saying it which became more common after the decline of Argentina as a major economic power.

While they are freakishly thin, their flexibility makes them less fragile than you might assume. You can actually flex the rim a surprising amount, this is one of the benefits of crystal vs glass.

on every video you always say that the wine you like the most is the french but once again you proved your self wrong. its time to start giving other places the credit they deserve. you talk shit about california cabernet and in one of your videos you almost went with caymus. (you were jsut lucky). give them credit man france is not the only wine contry.
