God I love James ❤️ voice, so so soulful. But when he teams with David.... pure gold. I miss them together, their harmonies like she's the only one, it don't matter to me, diary, make it with you ... dismal day. amazing. True David got more attention and credit. His voice was more appealing by commercial standards. That's a shame. It drove a wedge between them... that and James addiction but the two probably fueled each other ... I'm glad James got the help he needed to get clean before he died. He was very talented 👏 I miss him and in his own way David does too I'm sure. Rip James 🙏 💗

After so many years... still the saddest song I've ever heard. It can't listen to it without crying. I remember being 18 and being hopelessly in love with an an unattainable girl, leaving my hometown in the dead of winter and driving aimlessly around upstate New York trying to work it out, making bad life-altering decisions, arriving at conclusions I somehow suppressed over the years while I got on with my life. Well, I remember all that when I hear this song, and I'm right back there again. It could be maudlin, and yet in the hands of Jimmy it's not. It's just beautiful. Unparalleled.
@31Alden4 жыл бұрын
It certainly is unparalleled, Gary. And not the least bit maudlin. I love this pared down version that highlights James Griffin’s pure, angelic voice: James and the piano. That’s all it takes to bring grown men and women to their knees every time we listen to this. I cannot think of a more poignant song to remember the special people in our lives who became part of our life’s tapestry whether they were aware of it or not.

Bread was the first band I enjoyed in life. And it's sad to think that James Griffin is gone. He was always my favorite in the band. He had a wonderful voice. For me the most beautiful songs of Bread were always those sung by him. But the record company preferred to always highlight the songs sung by Gates. In the end, it shuddered the band's own relationships and its trajectory. However, there is the memory and longing for his work and voice. I will never forget beautiful songs like Dream Lady, Just Like Yesterday, Games of Magic and Our Lady Of Sorrow, among others, that made my youth. R.I.P. James.

it is public knowledge that Larry Knechtel, the keyboardist of Bread, was the one who arranged and performed the iconic piano part on the recording of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water".... and since the song exploded big time, Bread had added it to their repertoire whenever they had a show, with of course, James Griffin on vocals... only Jimmy boy can give it justice... sorry David.
