The fastest I've been on a board (and probably ever will be) was 53mph which is right around the max on this vid. Let me tell you, that experience is something else. The difference between 40mph and 50+mph is crazy. You're massively focused on everything yet the board melts away below you, the wind, the speed, it all becomes hyperreal. Getting blasted with endorphins while being intimately aware that a fall right now is REALLY going to suck. Hell yeah, cant wait for next season.

I love watching these speed runs. I messed up my leg a few years ago and can't do it anymore, but a buddy and I used to race down the blacks in our area (not super difficult blacks to be fair) and it was a blast. The super late night runs were the best - maybe one or two other people on the run, no distractions, just pure riding. One night we were feeling confident, having booked it down the run a dozen times cleanly that day and we decided to take it as fast as we could. I hardly slowed down the entire run until the last straightaway. It was to the point where a fall was breaking multiple bones if not my head. It was reckless and exhilarating. During one attempt earlier in the day, on a straight decline right under the lift, I hit a rough bump in an icy patch in the middle of a turn. I ended up nearly on my ass sliding down the rest of the way, but had caught myself with one hand while the board was on edge. I was purely horizontal and it took about 15-20 seconds of that before I recovered, hardly even losing any speed. Everyone on the lift cheered, and that only prompted me to take the next time even faster. There's something incredible about flying down a mountain at full speed, when all you can hear is the wind, feeling like there's no friction on your board, every breath giving you cold air that hardly even seems to cool you down, and seeing gorgeous scenery passing you in a flash. Boarding is one of the best feelings in the world.

Stuff like this brings back the fun of going down the main path! There's rarely any challenge in that these days, especially without friends on the slope. Watching this, I got the familiar rush which I've grown to miss, so thanks for that! :)

I caught an edge doing this in the icy section and it hurt like hell for days. I couldn't see that well in the shaded section. I chickened out after that incident. I'll live vicariously through you and keep my mellow easy riding where I don't have to worry about hurting myself, going off the cliff or hitting a kid doing S-turns.

The Ride War Pig is the Goat. Have had mine for 1 season now and hands down best board on the Mountain. Nobody can beat you for fun, speed, POW capabilities, carving, it literally does everything. The only thing holding that board back is the ability of the rider.

How do you add the speed thing on your camera
@malcolmmoore4 жыл бұрын
So it done on the actual GoPro. You need to make sure the GPS is turned on before you start recording. Then when you're back at home you upload the footage into the gopro quik app on your desktop and you can simply add the speedometers. The new hero8 actually has a load of problems with the GPS and of all the runs I recorded this was the only one that worked. The older hero7 is actually alot more reliable in that respect!

I’ve been snowboarding for 8 years now and 3 years ago I got into a really bad accident bombing down the slopes like this. I’m slowly trying to get back into snow bombing and getting over my fear of catching edge again. This looked so fun and I want to try doing it this season
