Thanks for doing this. Wonderful conversation. 😊 Malcom is a blessing. Barfield wrote a fabulous book titled - The Rediscovery of Mean. Here’s a few words from it. “Amid all the menacing signs that surround us in the middle of this twentieth century, perhaps the one which fills thoughtful people with the greatest foreboding is the growing general sense of meaninglessness. It is this which underlies most of the other threats. How is it that the more able man becomes to manipulate the world to his advantage, the less he can perceive any meaning in it?” 🙏😊

Malcolm Guite is just fantastic. Thank you for giving him free reign.

I have watched Malcolm Guite on his own channel and other videos including the one he mentioned with Iain Mcgilchrist and Roger Wagner, but this is possibly the most amazing. He is on fire, conveying ideas about the imagination with a new clarity. I am in awe of his ability to explain Coleridge and Owen Barfield with such apparent ease. He is one of those teachers that have mastered their material so well that one feels more intelligent after listening to them. As others have said, thanks for letting him speak so freely.

Wonderful. Malcolm is such an antidote to all that is wrong in the world. He is a true spiritual leader in the UK Christian world - and boy do they need one.

Today I made the discovery of M.D. Babcock's 'This is my Father's Word.' (I am from Austria, so I didnt know this hymn.)I think the songs summarizes so much of what Malcolm says. And I am very sure, Tolkien knew that hymn. What is also wonderful to me, is that Howard Shore borrowed the melody of its first line for his Shire motive... I am so glad I got to listen to your programme, it helped me to undestand my happiness and fascination when I am in nature. That it is our Middle-Earth, that it still vibrates of our creator's song, that there is a conflict which we dont have to fight alone...

You’re right, that hymn beautifully sums up what Malcom is saying 1 This is my Father's world, And to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings The music of the spheres. This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas-- His hand the wonders wrought. 2 This is my Father's world: The birds their carols raise, The morning light, the lily white, Declare their Maker's praise. This is my Father's world: He shines in all that's fair; In the rustling grass I hear Him pass, He speaks to me everywhere. 3 This is my Father's world: O let me ne'er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet. This is my Father's world: Why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King: let the heavens ring! God reigns; let earth be glad! Sing Joyfully,

Great podcast! That imagination and perception is a unity within our cognitive world, is in addition to the points in this discussion - central to the sacred within of ancient theologies. Imagunstion is our internal psychical inter-connexion with the light of the divine.

Aah, this is so amazing!! Thank you for sharing these magnificent truths! Expecting meaning, to BE rather than to exist... and maybe enchant others. God bless you both on your further quests.

It was a delight to watch! When Malcolm was talking in the very beginning about brain hemispheres being out of balance, that reminded me of The Master and His Emissary by McGilchrist.

Did anyone catch what music it is that Richard Dawkins wanted? (At the 47:00 mark) I couldn’t parse it, and neither could the subtitles- they called it “Par B minor Mouse“ 😅
