*Here is an explanation for anyone worried and thinking the cats aren't neutered*: She's exhibiting oestrus behaviours, but her clipped ear is an indication that she was taken to the vet and spayed before (that's common procedure to identify neutered street cats, and you'll notice many of the cats in these videos have clipped ears). Look around 1:21 timestamp, her left ear (right ear from our POV). Clearly clipped, flat across. 1:59 shows the flat clipped tip against the pavement too. It's possible she was on heat at the time of neutering, which can result in neutered females sometimes having confused behaviours like this. Hasun is also neutered (the tubby male who was mounting her instinctively but didn't really seem to know what to do beyond that, because he was neutered as a kitten). The intact ginger male who was watching from farther off hasn't been a part of this community until sometime more recently, and obviously hasn't been trapped and neutered (not very tame and harder to trap or give post-operative care), but all the cats who are permanent residents in this little colony living on the people's property were neutered over time.

오랜만에 봤는데 하순이 여전히 뚱냥한 게 너무 귀엽네요.ㅜㅜ 예전에 먼저 보낸 아가도 중성화수술하고도 막내한테 하순이같은 행동을 보여서, 막내 목덜미 좀 그만 물라고 말리던 게 생각나네요. 수술해도 각자 다 다르더라고요. 날이 많이 더워졌는데 건강 잘 챙기세요.

다들 외출했나보다. 마당이 한가하네. 해순이 애교가 많구나. 재네들은 행복하겠다. 안전한 잠자리, 먹거리 걱정 없이 외출도 자유로이 마음 가는 대로 살아가니... 마당냥이로 살아가려면 어쩔 수 없이 아까운 이쁜 아이들 다 중성화 됐지만 길냥이 밀크는 생식 능력이 있다는 게 뭔가 좀.

You'll notice a lot of the cats have quite big bellies lol; they have a generous hand and feed them well. Also quick tip: if she were pregnant, she wouldn't be exhibiting oestrus behaviours. Not a breeder. The cats in the videos were originally semi-feral street cats, and the owners of the house fed them and befriended them and had them neutered and cared for over time. Some kittens from previous litters were found new homes, but currently all the long-term cat residents are neutered, so any new kittens that may appear on the property are from other street cats that don't live on these people's property. The female is exhibiting oestrus behaviours, but her clipped ear is an indication that she was taken to the vet and spayed before (as you must know, that's common procedure to identify neutered street cats, and you'll notice many of the cats in these videos have clipped ears). First of all, this female cat has a clipped ear, which is a sign that the vet neutered her already. They clip the ear tip so stray neutered cats can be identified (you'll notice this clipped ear on many of the cats in this colony, since the owner has taken them over time to be neutered -- the intact ginger male is a more recent visitor and presumably not very tame and harder to trap or give post-operative care). Sometimes if cats are in oestrus when they are neutered, they can exhibit oestrus behaviours randomly in the future, even though they are infertile. That is likely the explanation here. Where did you hear that being in oestrus is painful? I'm addressing this because it is scientifically incorrect. Oestrus for a cat isn't painful like a period. Female cats in oestrus might meow loudly because their instincts make them desperate to breed, but a cat in oestrus is more like in a state of hypo-mania and very affectionate and receptive, not in pain. The actual mating is presumed to be painful because of the barbs on the male's🌶, but oestrus itself isn't. The feline reproductive system is very efficient, and they don't bleed. In cats, mating is what triggers the ovaries to release eggs, and the endometrium is just partially reabsorbed if the cats don't become pregnant, and there is no cramping or pain involved. The regression of the endometrium doesn't happen during oestrus anyway, though. Anyway, the whole process of reproduction is hard on most animals including cats, so I understand your concern, and so does the videographer (since he has been responsible and had all the regular cat inhabitants neutered).

The fence was erected originally to protect the cats from the construction that was going on in the neighbourhood before, but they were becoming stressed and having little squabbles like cats do if confined to a territory too small for their numbers. They are naturally semi-feral and happier to roam freely, so the fence has been opened to allow them to do that, once it was safer outside again.
