Anyone that has recently or is thinking about purchasing a cham, one thing a lot of people fail to mention is when you interact with your cham, pay attention to the shirt you are wearing. Bright colors such as red, blue, yellow, etc effect your cham in a negative way. Same goes for dark colors like black, navy blue, etc. Greens and browns are colors chams see as relaxing. Just a little tip to help anyone out.

I have about a 7 month old female chameleon, I’ve handled/worked with her a lot. Especially when she was little. (Obviously I’d put her back or leave her alone when she’d get stressed or overwhelmed) But it’s worked out great, she loves to be held and loves people. She’s my first chameleon and it’s been amazing so far, I always watch your videos just for little tips and stuff, and it’s really helped so far. Thanks!! Lots of love from Beans and I.🦎💖

I love my female, but the egg laying every 90 days is extremely stressful for both of us. I do everything I can to make sure she's comfortable and has everything she needs but it's always hard. Even though I absolutely adore her, my next veiled will be a male.

Yume wasn't able to get all the eggs out on her 4th clutch of eggs. During surgery they found a big mass that was a bunch of eggs that somehow grown merged together. That was almost 2 months ago, she is doing great now! The doctor could find only one ovary and removed it so we are hoping she won't lay again.

@@jadeestherheanan9387 Yes, Yume is still with me and well :) She went through three surgeries now, the second was particularly bad because the egg raptured and got all around inside her. The vet wasn't very hopeful but she recovered even easier than after first surgery. Third surgery it was hard to force her to rest, she is so strong. We are hoping he managed to get the second ovary out so she can live without any more troubles. She is such a gentle soul, I would give half of my remaining life to her, if I could spend it by her side. By the way, you can see her in "Male Vs. Female Veiled Chameleons!" video at 6:47 and in "Pros & Cons to Veiled Chameleons" at 8:45

Thank you so much for all the info. I’ve been wanting a Chamaeleon for about a year now. I do own a gecko and a bearded dragon. I’ve done a lot of research and I learn something new every day it seems like. I’m grateful for people like you who put this information out there so we can learn more before getting these animals. Thanks again!

I remember getting my veiled chameleon called Mercury. I got told it was a boy but she turned out to be a girl. I remember them saying that I was able to take her back and get a male but I had already made an emotional attachment with her and wasn’t going to let her go so here we are, egg laying can be a pain but we get through it

I have a female, I just finished setting up her bio-active cage with terra firma and bio-bag from Bio-Dude, I have been watching you, Neptune, Bio-Dude, and of course, Bill Strand and have learned a lot so I could put her set up together properly, as YES, I am one of those people that got sucked into a "chameleon kit"... that will be her outdoor cage now. I have the proper size cage, lights, substrate, etc so she will be able to lay her eggs as safely as possible, when the time comes. She is about 6 months now, so I am reducing her feedings and I bought a deep dome lamp so she gets a better temperature regulation in her cage, which she seems to be enjoying even tho I need a TON more plants! I would be happy to update info on her as she progresses, if you just tell me how. Skittles is wandering about her cage now, she doesn't seem to mind that she really has one real hiding place right now, tomorrow there will be a trip to the local nursery as I continue my search for a ficus or umbrella plant for her. Have a great night... Chat with you soon :)

I have lost a female panther to egg laying A thing I can advise is to make a deep lay bin because they really want to dig a long tunnel and turn around and lay their its straight forward but if you don’t get it right it’s horrible
@reptiliangarden
@reptiliangarden 3 жыл бұрын
It’s a little easier with cresties since they lay less eggs. You can actually feel them in her belly too if you are worried and want to check. As long as you lay a moist lay box, she should lay them just fine and not have an issue. They don’t have shorter lifespans from it like the chameleons do.

Loved seeing everyone's chams 💚One care difference between male and female chameleons is that females need to be kept at lower temps with a basking temperature no hotter than 80F. This will help reduce clutch sizes and stress on the female's bodies. Females should also be fed no more than 3-4 every 2-3 days to help reduce the number of eggs they lay. Hope this is helpful for anyone who has a female. I don't usually plug my own videos on other people's videos, but you did ask to share any info we have about female chameleons and I do have a video all about chameleon egg laying and how to set up a laying bin that keepers should find helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqqZpHyGq7N6i9k as well as a video that goes into detail on sexing a baby veiled chameleon with pictures of tarsal spurs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH7Wp62OhpmkpM0

I have a female veiled chameleon and she seems to always want to walk around out in the yard in the grass. However sometimes she changes colors sometimes she doesn't I'm unsure if she feels intimidated or if she's enjoying herself out there. I'm trying to give her a little real vitamin d u v and some daily exercise outside with me. But I don't want to stress her out.. is it normal for them to want to roam around? I thought they always enjoyed being in higher places? It's my first chameleon and I really want to learn and treat her right

I have a female veiled named Cleo 💚 you can actually feed them in a way where they have smaller egg clutches to no eggs at all! Egg laying is stressful for all experience levels. But please trust that these animals have instincts and as long as you provide them with all they need and some privacy that all will be well. However!! Here are some warning signs I have learned about that should really help: Hanging out at the bottom of the cage for most of her day (this is aside from her exploring and digging in her laying bin) Pale in color Doesn't eat Doesn't use the bathroom Loses weight in a very short amount of time If any of these warning signs are showing up in your female call the emergency vet and get her in.

I only keep female chameleons. I provide live plants in their cage for egg laying. I have had one girl become egg bound and it was heartbreaking. 💔 My Tinkerbell is 3 years old and lays eggs every 4-6 months. It’s messy, but cool watching her do her thing.
