This song was written for Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq and the meaning of the song flows with the film. Everyone is caught up dancing, when throughout people start to disappear and all that remain is their silhouettes. Even though people are disappearing all around, the crowd doesn’t fail, they continue to dance lost within the vibe. Before you start thinking WHAT?, there is actually a pretty dope message for the visuals that closely align with the Chi-Raq movie, Mali’s message for the video is: “Have we become so numb to the senseless violence and other nonsense in this world that people can quickly disappear from our lives [and] we just move on without missing a beat?” Kamilla Rose

I'm here in 2020 and I must confess. This is the first time me hearing this song....smh.... where was I at right? I know, lol.... Anyway, I couldn't have heard it at a better time. I'm primarily a spoken word artist along with other things and I draw inspiration from different songs. This song here inspired me in a huge way, and not from the perspective of romantic love though. I just recently lost my father about a week and a few days ago of me writing this comment. This song inspired me to write his tribute farewell poem "Until we meet again". I'm about to get an orginal beat similar to this one and go to the studios with the poem. I'm West Indian, and I'm really feeling a reggae version as well. I need the right beat though. Just wanted to share that. You never know what you do.....who it's going to bless and in what way it'll bless them. Peace and love ya'll....Hendi

Mali did nothing wrong by singing this song. This song is off of the soundtrack for the movie CHIRAQ. The song is made for a good cause. He was most likely asked to sing the song for the movie. People are quick to judge others knowing they aren't even perfect themselves & also without the proper knowledge of the situation. As long as MALI is still spreading God, love & positivity trying to win souls he is perfectly fine in my book. Relax & enjoy the song. Have a blessed day.

+Zaire Profit 👎👎👎 to your response, he's glorifying God by using the talent he was blessed with in a commendable meaningful way.
@samiraj.1928 жыл бұрын
+Zaire Profit I get what you're saying in part, but first off you need to understand that this song is from a movie soundtrack. I haven't seen the movie yet, but in the scene where this was played the lyrics are probably relevant to what was happening onscreen. Is that inherently bad? I don't think so. You're obviously entitled to your own opinion sir, but if it does not point others to sin I can't see why Mali simply using his talent is wrong.
@samiraj.1928 жыл бұрын
+Zaire Profit I am disheartened by all the negativity his recent work is getting by disgruntled Christians. In a previous comment you refer to him as a Gospel artist, this is true, however is he banned from singing RnB, Hip Hop, Blues etc. I see him as an artist, an artist who uses his talent positively to the Glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 may need revisiting. Grace and peace ✌
@ivantapia67947 жыл бұрын
Zaire Profit If he is telling truth and doing good works it is not bad,if he was making music that brings sin and death than that will be bad but i dont believe this is bad.Jesus did not come and just say how great god is.He teached us!

Dont miss the point of the song and the visuals in the video. He is talking about mortality. he is talking about how we can lose someone/a life and not miss a beat. but the life that is lost isnt over yet, ths person isnt necessarily dead yet just at the point of giving up maybe contiplating death or suffering spiritual death, and how we can encourage them and bring them out of that mindset. see the chalk outlines?

Just thinking of my ex how I messed up with her, she was a great women, she cared for me and was their for me, but I was blind to it , I was cheating on her, playing games, not being serious in the relationship, not being the man she needed me to be. I know I lost a great women but I just wasn't ready being immature in the relationship and not respecting her as a woman, not respecting her feelings. Smh I messed up bad and I'm hurt, I just pray she can forgive what I put her through and we can be friends. I'm praying for myself to stop be selfish, to stop using people and to have a genuine heart for others. I love you Courtney so much, wish I would have been a better an to you .

I think everybody's entitled to their opinion ..this is an amazing song. ..so people on here should stop slimming and jamming. ..Mali has been a blessed to the world. ...and if you think he's not doing "gospel" no more. ...you shouldn't be here....my fellow Christians. ..stop being judgemental. ...remember Matthew 7:1-3

Hello my sis, yeah I remember Mathew 7. What it's actually talking about is that you should not use ur own wisdom to judge but rather use God's word as the standard to judge things. I'm sure you get it now. Shalom!

The bible is truth, religion is man made...this man is singing about hope and morality...that is good fruit. Jesus came and taught hope and morality to the people...there are entire books of the bible like proverbs and ecclesiastes that only talk about the good and bad of this world, morality and immorality, you have missed the reason Jesus even had to come and die for us, we were slaves to our sin...if God inspired the bible and God himself says things like keep hope, keep faith, love one another...how is one of God's children judged for the same message. Christianity is a way of life not a religion and few find it...if you are just religious, you are not a true believer...if you think gospel music is just stuff with Jesus name spoken verbally in it then you are forgetting the full message of the gospel which includes encourage one another to good works, if you are looking for the word God in a song to approve it as good, then you have not grown in understanding. It is necessary to praise and worship our heavenly father, but he would rather we praise him and worship him through expressing his will towards others and actually live out that lifestyle...you can say praise the lord, but Mali is praising more effectively by actively opposing the violence in Chicago and using his God given voice to offer counsel to the young people.

There is no wisdom or benefit in "Christians" getting on here trying to correct someone publicly and then the correction is not even accurate...all you are doing is misrepresenting our faith to thousands of people who are skeptical in the first place.

This song has a positive message no matter how you look at it. As for the video, of course Christians will find it provocative but I think discrediting this man's entire relationship with God over a music video is a bit much. This song very well could expose urban listeners to modern day gospel. All gospel music isn't like it use to be. Beats are starting to sound like Hiphop/RnB but the lyrics are still uplifting. There are plenty of young people that need this message. Also, in the video he's made to look like he's not a part of the party, like a misfit. I'm sure it's a reason behind it. Some people only want to see God's way of using people ONE way. God has no limitations. We need believers that aren't afraid to reach out to non believers. How can we save souls if we only choose to stay within the circumference of the people already saved?
