First of all Truly appreciated for all the information & knowledge that you've given to Topic on Polygamy. U need your first wife permission to married another girl Second u must have reason to married another girl such as your first wife cannot pregnant and it's allow you to married another girl Third u can't just married another girl as your second wife u must married a widow and must have reason why you married that widow ,example for the reason is to protact that widow. Fourth to married more then one wife u need a stable foundition you must be rich and be fair and square to your wife's and u must have strong faith If u guys/boys/man's don't have reason and stable economy U not allowed to married more then one is will be problem and may be sins to your action ... U need to think for a long time and u need a agree and premision from ur wife or family first don't hurt your first wife and be fair ...

Just a bit of correction/explanation for no. 1 and 3. In Islamic teaching, there's no need for permission from the 1st wife but for regulation purposes, the Malaysian government added that part into the laws to prevent husbands from abusing their rights and to protect the wife(s) from being abused. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th wife does not need to be a widow. It is preferable if they are a widow but they don't have to be one for a valid marriage.

Just giving some extra info..Polygamy in Malaysia is only for Muslims(follower of Islam).. Not for Buddhist, Hiduism or Christians(edited)..The reasons why Islam allow us to practices polygamy is: In Islam, We believed in Al-Quran and Hadith (you can google it if you don't know what it means).. And there's a hadith in Islam long time ago, that said someday women population will be much higher than men.. And Islam strictly prohibited adultery..So in order to reduce the cases of unmarried women and illegitimate child, that might lead to unwanted crisis, Islam allows men to marry more than 1, on the condition that a man should be able to be fair to his wifes without doing any harm/neglect to any of his wife. This is the best that i can explain..Hope this can give you some extra information.. Best regard from Malaysia 😊😊

The not-so-cheap fruit is true for imported fruits & if you buy around klang valley. Can get wayyyy cheaper when u travel to indo or thai. But it can be seasonally cheap. Like for example, mango is cheaper during its season (around april-may). Besides, can get cheaper fruits sold by the roadside on the way back kampung. Some orchards also open for fruit eating spree when in season😊. Polygamy is allowed in Islam. It is not a culture though. There's difference between religious teachings & culture. One man is allowed to get married to a max of 4 wives BUT it comes with responsibility. One must be fair, just and provide basic necessities for all the wives & kids. Basically, you don't just get married for fun la😂

Polygamy is an Islamic practice where a man is allowed to take up to 4 wives at a time. But seeing a man practice polygamy is rare these days, the most you can find is them having 2 wives. Even so in Islam the man is required to equally provide and take fair responsibility for all his wives and children. And per Malaysian law the first wife must give her written consent before he gets married again. I hope non-Muslim does not view this negatively. This law was originally made to grant protection and security to single mothers and orphaned children but today most men are misusing the true purpose of it. They often use this as an excuse to abandon their first wife and children. It is not the law but people make it look bad.

Unfortunately this hits close to home, I came from a poligamy family, I'm the first and only child of the first wife. My dad abandoned me and my mom when I was just 8 (I'm 22 this year), and he didn't even get consent for the second marriage from my mom (he created a false letter pretending to be my mom to get pass the law), and he hardly even fulfills his responsibility as a husband nor a father (his allowance was never enough, and he only gave allowance for me -his child, eventho he was -AND STILL IS- legally married to my mom).
@blackelementar
@blackelementar 4 жыл бұрын
Poligamy is allowed in our religion with a few conditions : 1) the man is capable of taking care of his wives and support them well financially, emotionally, love, etc 2) the man must be fair to his wives 3) the man must be healthy 4) it is also 'encouraged' that the man gets his first wife permission 5) it is better to pick 'second' wife among woman who had lost their husband. Because you are helping to protect them. But, we can't control people heart. Love is blind. 🙃 There are other condition on poligamy. I'm not an expert. My info might be not perfect. Others may share the info. I'm sorry if it is incorrect. My uncle is married with two wives. They live separately. Some prefer to live together. It depends. Both wives are good to each other, even second wife children frequently lepak at the first wife house. Not all men who married to more than one, are capable of being good to both. And not all women willing to share their husband. It depends on each person.

Hendry.Actually polygamy is not an easy task for a Muslim.Even though it is stated in Holy Quran you can marrry 2,3 or 4 wives but if you cannot be fair...marry only one. Fair means is that everything must be equal...relationship...love....property.There are reasons for a Muslim to marry more than one.One reason is the first wife cannot bear children....or sick..or the sex of the male is too strong and the wife cannot bear it....and it is allowed to get marry other rather than doing adultry which is forbidden in our religion.
@time3831
@time3831 4 жыл бұрын
I agree. Another reason is to protect family system. For example, if a woman marry more than 1 men and then get pregnant, it is hard to decide who the father of the child. I mean it is hard to decide who the father is and worst case scenario, there will be a fight in the family. But when a man with more than one wife, there will be no problem knowing who child belongs to, because it is the women who carry (during pregnancy) the children. But then, it is hard to do polygamy, only when someone can be just to every wife. Like what was mentioned.

Correction on the fair part... When we talk about fair its not about equility, its about putting thing at where it should be.for example if your first wife have 2 children and your second wife have 4 children, money for food, education and necessity cant be given the same, it should be fair for both side, like the first wive is given rm1500 and the second wife is given rm2000. So thats no one have more or less fiancially. This is what learn from my ustaz
@yaakobmahmood999
@yaakobmahmood999 3 жыл бұрын
it's a good comment but personally I feel the word 'fair' should appropriately replaced with the word 'just' as in justice. it almost similar to fair but fair has the tendency to mean equal while just has a tendency toward the term meaning right. Rightful in the eyes of the woman in my opinion not rightful in the eyes of the man.

please be aware that the order came to Muhammad s.a.w was not to encourage polygamy, but to limit men’s wives maximum of only four persons only. i repeat, to LIMIT THE MAXIMUM wives a man can have. to prevent a man goes beyond boundaries in marriage u see, people from thousand years ago had practised polygamy to the extent of having hundreds of wives. not enough with wives, they even had concubines u know. like the china’s kings, the arabic elites, etc. the problem of having too many wives during that time were their husband cannot be fair to each of them in terms of spending night, provide shelter and basic needs, taking care of expenses, etc. a husband might be bias cuz he might favour specific wives and didnt pay attention to the other. this kinda like a torture to these abandoned wives, bcuz their husband cannot be fair to all of them equally. and also to stop the culture of having concubines, because these concubines will not receive the same right as a legal wife can. so it would be like a torture to them as well. Islam does allow polygamy, but doesnt mean Islam encourage it. it just says that if a man is capable, he is allowed to do so but maximum only to four wives only. but if he cannot, then enough to have just one wife for him. there’s a Quran verse that explain this u know. u can marry two, three, or four wives if u can be fair to all of them. but if u cannot be fair, just marry one wife only. even Islam encourage monogamy u see so i hope people will do their research before accuse Islam likes polygamy, Islam can marry many wives. please read the history first on how the order of having four wives came to Muhammad s.a.w first.

The first thing to note on this issue is that polygamy is not ordered as a general rule for all Muslims to follow. Instead, it is a provision - something allowed - for special circumstances. The primary occasion then for the provision of polygamy is in war-time situations. During times of war, the number of men in the society is reduced due to war casualties. Consequently, there is an increase in the number of widows and orphans. For such situations, Islam gives the provision of polygamy so that the widows and orphans could continue to have the possibility of a family life after the passing of the husband/father.

Besides import-export factor, seasonal tropical fruits can be expensive than all years tropical fruits. That’s why mangosteen & durian are expensive than red watermelon. Seasonal tropical fruit can be cheaper when over-production/supply in some areas (mostly rural areas that surrounded with those fruits orchard) Polygamy are allowed in Islam but need go through legal procedure of Religious Islamic Council. Otherwise, most rich people do polygamy because each wife must live in separate house and wives must provided equal assets & commodities.

Polygamy of having maximum 4 wifes in Malaysian's country was not a mendatory to have. It was more to a choice rather than forces to have. Most woman doesn't like polygamy because they don't like to share their husband. It was natural reaction behavior for most woman. As P.Ramlee said : One ; many. Meaning that people who marry only one in this world are too many to count (including Malaysia) Two ; less. Meaning that people who was marrying and having 2 wifes was less than people who marry only one. Three ; sometimes. Meaning that people who was having 3 wifes, sometimes you heard it (or saw it) on this world (including Malaysia). Four ; rarely. Meaning people who was having 4 wifes, you rarely seen it or heard it the entire world, atleast once. The wisdom of polygamy is to protect the woman and taking care of them as a guardian which is the main purpose of polygamy.

There’s one old Malay movie it called “Nujum Pak Belalang”. In one of the scene... one of the character explains what is marriage (in Islam - basically polygamy). You should watch that movie. I am not sure though there’s a subtitle.

Tropical fruit is not that cheap in Malaysia because we mainly grow palm oil :) On the highway it is very common to see many kilometers of palm oil plantations outside of selangor. Also this is personal preference but I think that Malaysian mango and mangosteen is not very good compared to Thailand or Philippines. If you want the best Malaysian fruit you should try our Watermelon, Rambutan and of course DURIAN :D

In Islam a man is allowed to to marry 4 wives but with all conditions of fairness and justice and giving honor and respect to the Women as wives (not mistress) and it is really a great responsibility for a husband to carry out in marriage. One wife is enough let alone 4 wives for you to shoulder what that big responsibility .in Islam means . So if you cannot do justice to 4 wives , then be contented to one wife . 😊✌️

Actually, Malaysia is what you call a humid country. Humid = hot + wet. Because of our rainforest, it rains a lot throughout the year. With the high level of precipitation, the air becomes humid, and lowkey 'cooling down' the weather. While normal 4 seasons country is what you call a dry hot summer. That's why summer in this climate can be hotter than every day rainforest countries.

So, some durian lovers cannot wait until middle of the seasons. 😁 So they will buy eventhough it's pricier. But, it depends on how lucky you are because early fruits sometimes good, sometimes not. Polygamy is a part of religion. But for a man to marry more than one wife, there are lots of responsibilities come along so if you can't carry the weigh, don't bother lol. We do have polygamy in the society but we don't openly talk about it because some families that have polygamy are more likely to be broken families... meaning they aren't as happy as normal families (but there are cases where they're happy). If you surround yourself with enough Muslim Malays, you'd be surprised that there are some of us who actually are from those polygamy family, but we just don't talk about it. It's something we talk on a day when we have serious mental breakdown, late at night, in isolation far from uninvited ears, there we will talk about it. P/s: yea, i'm one of those kids. I don't like talking about it tho, i have never been able to talk in depth without breaking down so i always stop halfway.

Actually you don't need to say polygamy causes broken family. Even monogamy family end up being broken family. If monogamy can be broken family, then polygamy can be also. Its all fault on parents because of their parenting skill and knowledge. I encourage new generation parent learn parenting "BEFORE" having kids. Learn what fault older generation parent mistake and don't repeat same mistake like what your purpose learning subject history in schools. From my views now younger couple tried to do same mistake like past parent and its majority. Just few take steps like I encourage to do so. That's how family won't be broken. And I not ashamed to tell I from broken family. Life is a wheel. If you don't break the chain, you will turn the same. Break the chain like you did to Covid-19. By seeing this in bigger picture makes me want to live and die alone life. I don't want to marry. Yes, I'm might had a phobias. It's because I don't want to repeat same mistake and make my children be in my spot where I experience in old days. Karma is exists, Its quite unfair. Parent did mistake, children suffers then they did same mistake when became parent and the chains continue to their children. PLEASE STOP BAD PARENTING, YOU MAKING YOUR CHILDREN SOW SEED OF DEPRESSION. If the seed of depression bloom, theirs no point of return. You know what my point here, suicides. Some wise words I learn: Don't event starts, if you can't finish.

@syafkhai9218
@syafkhai9218 4 жыл бұрын
Yup Polygamy is not a culture just 1 part of teaching in Islam, a Muslim male can marry up to 4 wives, but the male has to be just in dividing love, money, attention, taking care and feeding the wife if he cannot then he should not consider it at all. It is very hard that is why it is not widely practised. Doing it wrong could cause disharmony in marriage life, constant bickering, and usually ends with divorce and another broken family. Doing it right will bring blessing, money and possibly empire in the making (textile taukeh, hehe). Why it was allowed at the first place? It dates back to our prophet times, which I don't think it is suitable to share the information here (it is a bit heavy). It is from well intention purpose but nowadays it is a bit irrelevant. Polygamy is actually a good thing but because the male sometimes decide to do everything without the 1st wife acknowledgement which is terrible, that is a recipe for a tumultous life. We can agree that in every relationship trust and respect is important. This is why polygamy has a very bad rep in Malaysia. Not everyone can pull it off. Well even in monogamy (1 queen) there is divorce, this is polygamy (2, 3 or 4 queens) we are talking about.

Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 [Act 164] which came into effect on 1st March 1982; which prohibited polygamy to Non-Muslims after this date. Any polygamous marriage by Non-Muslims contracted before this date could be legally registered as legal wife. It was common in the past for men with means to have multiple wives. Hi Henry! Thank you for telling us about this. Now I know about it. Btw, Im from melaka and I don't know it's so hot for ya! 😂🙊 About the polygamy..it's in Islam but not only in Islam..you can find other religions that allow this polygamy i.e. Buddhism, hinduism, etc..I won't say much about others since I don't know much about them but it's definitely not a malaysian culture..But since religion plays a big role in shaping the culture of Malaysia, it may look like it's a culture but ya know, it's not😂 1st of all, Islam permits a man to have up to four wives. But whyyy? 🤔 Polygamy is allowed, though not mandatory, as a REMEDIAL MEASURES for certain situations that may arise from time to time. In certain situations, a man is allowed to marry more than one wife, with the condition that he treats his wives with justice, and takes the decision with Taqwa or God Consciousness. So, it is definitely not because of lust 👌 This polygamy applied before during times of war, when the number of men in the society is reduced due to war casualties. Consequently, there is an increase in the number of widows and orphans. For such situations, Islam gives the provision of polygamy so that the widows and orphans could continue to have the possibility of a family life after the passing of the husband/father. Hence, by doing this, Islam proposes polygamy as a solution in a time of crisis. Instead of abandoning large numbers of families, widows, and orphans, in the hope of holding on to some notion of “equality” and monogamous marriage under all circumstances, Islam offers a practical solution keeping in mind the long-term health and spiritual condition of individuals and the society at large. Like I said before, it's not a culture and definitely not a rule for all Muslim to follow. This only apply when you're in certain situations ((something allowed - for special circumstances only)) But if you're not, then, marry only one! 😊 "And if you fear that you will not be fair in dealing with the orphans, then marry of women as may be agreeable to you, two, or three, or four; and if you fear you will not deal justly, then marry ONLY ONE or what your right hands possess. That is the nearest way for you to avoid injustice. [4:4]"

Some tropical fruits are seasonal, so you might find it expensive if you bought it outside their season. Henry, if you want, I think you can ask freely if anyone here would invite you to their orchard (dusun). Polygamy is not cultural, but allowed to do in Islam on a few conditions. Other religions can do polygamy too, it got a lot of history. If you have not met the allowed conditions but still going for polygamy, thats when the problem arises 😅 it bad sometimes. But if they husband can really lead his wives, it got no problem at all.

Etc) and others rule.. not only they may get huge penalties/ jail in this life court.. They may also getting a retaliation on life hearafter. So it is not a joke to have a poligamy in islam. There are basically two situations with polygamy as a culture in Malaysia. First is state-sanctioned polygamy, which only applies to Muslims based on permissions of Islamic law called Sharia law, according to interpretation of Malaysian religious authority, which can be very different from other Islamic countries, sometimes. For the first case, this is a regulated culture (which means it cannot be practiced without regulation by Islamic authorities). Then you have de facto polygamy, which is practiced by some non-Muslims either in secret or open secret, but not as a culture. Several major cases tossed out in public include a top Malaysian Indian politician who had a dispute between his wives. Other low-key cases are only known by local members of the communities (Chinese and Indian). In short, polygamy in Malaysia is not found in public eye usually, but it occurs sometimes in Malaysia in Muslim or non-Muslim communities alike.

So good in manglish language 😁👍.And about polygamy, it's not just in islam but also part of humanity.All religion allowed polygamy whether Christianity, Hinduism and so on.Even Koreans also does polygamy.You can always spot it in kdramas.But of course the producers didn't mention it.Reason why other races don't do it cuz their countries following standard types of married law in the world, which means only single married.

polygamy in malaysia is for muslim only. not a muslim myself but as far as i know, it is allowed to marry four wives in islam BUT- there's a catch. firstly, the husband needs to be able to support his wives financially & emotionally. means, you need to be able to put food on the table for both wives & children, clothed them, educate them, lead them and treat your wives equally. secondly, you need to receive permission from your wives before you marry another wife. then again, if you take a look at the historical side of this practice, it is mostly to shelter widows with kids in order to protect them or if a couple hasn't been blessed with a child after long time, then for the sake of continuing the family tree, he is allowed to take in another wife. is it a good thing? from a non muslim perspective, my friend has two mums and a huge family. he said that it's cool, especially during raya or birthdays but from a general female perspective, i don't think it's that great for a woman because there is no guarantee that a husband could actually follow religion to treat the wives equally or their nether region. there are also more bad news than good news in the press about polygamy in malaysia. then again, i only know one friend w two mums so to each their own i guess.

In Islam religion, Quran have said explained regarding polygamy. In Surah An Nisa Chapter 4 Verse 3 = "if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice)"..
