From a person who has malignant hyperthermia and didn't find out until I was in the middle of surgery. This is cool to see how it might have went down in my room. I thanked my anesthesiologist profusely afterward, three weeks later I was out the hospital

How could you have possibly found out in the middle of surgery? You'd have been asleep.

the nurse anesthesist always knows how to react to emergencies. that is because you have a nursing background and so much clinical experience. thank you for this informative video- it will come in handy when I go to the operating room.

Why would you need permission when it's a social media for all?

After stopping is it safer to change the anaesthetic circuit completely since the earlier one will have some traces of sevoflurane. Audio not very clear .Thanks for this video which will be useful for medical students.

1. Drugs - too fast (but lets assume it's simplification) 2. Nurse keep on holding BURP - why?! Should help the doctor with securing the tube 3. No auscultation (deepth of ETT)

How do you just stop a surgery?

Malignant hyperthermia may occur soon after an anaesthetic or paralytic is given. Because of this, surgeons often haven't made any incisions. If surgery has already begun, then it is a case of the team deciding how critical the surgical step is: whether to continue the surgery (while the anaesthetists and crash team resolve the malignant hyperthermia), or whether to "close up". This is fairly rare, but as you say, it can't be an easy problem to solve! The abstract of this study says that malignant hyperthermia may take hours to be noticed, and varies by anaesthetic and paralytic given: www.doi.org/10.1213/ANE.0000000000000062 This study also highlights how variable onset is, sometimes before surgery, sometimes during surgery, and rarely after surgery: doi.org/10.1093/bja/85.1.118

No mention of treating dysrythmias. Assessing BMP / CMP with blood sugar. What rapid cooling is taking place. I see no cooling blankets. This emergency is an all hands on deck. Video suitable for Hollywood.
