Watching NY undercover today is like opening a time capsule that perfectly captivates imagery from the 90's and music from the golden era of Hip Hop. Malik, Michael and Lauren made the show. They ruined the show completely when they got rid of Michael, the music and started adding other characters.

I couldn't have said it better.. You are 100% spot on. The first 3 seasons. 1994-1997 of NY Undercover really showcased 90's New York and music from that time period. NO OTHER SHOW ON TV showcases the golden age of Hip Hop than the first 3 seasons of NY Undercover. From the clothes, imagery, music, and of course the weekly stars performing in that fictional club "Natalies".. there is no other show like it. The shame of it all, is that this show had so much potential. It could have gone on EASILY for 3 more seasons, with the original crew.. what a shame, and it was filmed in NYC, so the tie in potential with fashion, culture, and the Hip Hop scene was limitless... Fox executives didn't realize they were sitting on a billion dollar potential show.

New York Undercover was legendary. the show was great. the musical guests. I was born in '93, but I watched it online before they put the re-runs on BET. Malik is great actor. it's a shame they didn't treat the actors right, and that producers (not the actors) ruined it. they tried to make it into a typical police procedural like Law & Order. but it never was that they were fully within their rights to protest (at the beginning of season 3)
