#ceritarakyat #malingkundang Maling Kundang is located at Pantai Air Manis, Padang, Indonesia. It is about retribution felled on an ungrateful son who was cursed by his mother and turned into stone. Not only the curse befalling himself but his ship and its contents were turned into stones.
Maling Kundang was a poor kampung boy made good as a successful sailor. However, after returning to his birthplace with his newly-wedded wife from a rich family, he refused to aknowledge his mother who had been waiting for his return for many years.
The authority in Padang has recently took over the management of the area and works are on-going to preserve the stones from being destroyed and eroded by strong waves from the sea.
