I lived in Malmö for 15 years and this is the first time I've ever heard about "gamla staden". We usually call it "gamla väster", the old west (part of town). But yeah, you got the most in this vid Malmö has to offer 👍

I also live in Malmö and want to add that "Gamla staden" isn't wrong as that's what it's been called for a long time on maps, it's essentially the medieval parts. Gamla Väster is part of Gamla Staden. When "Nya staden" (the New Town) was built in the 1800s it led to this division. But I do agree that it's much more common to hear someone say "Gamla väster" than "Old town", even though I hear it from time to time.

You got most of it and there are realy nice spots here. Sadly though over half of the old city was demolished between 1955-1990 which makes large parts realy drab.. If you want to visit a city with real historic feeling go to Lund only 10 minutes by train from Malmö.

Why no peaceful and always happy Rosengård?
@PixelShade2 жыл бұрын
Because there's no reason to go there unless you live or work there (much like many other outskirt areas). With that being said, Rosengård is actually quite a lot nicer than people believe it to be, I worked there for a couple of years and really enjoyed the area. it has been painted out as this lawless area in Malmö due to media coverage and racism. Especially as the name has become well known nationally. But it is definitely not a troubled area anymore like many believe it to be. That crown goes to Nydala, Hermosdal and Dalaplan which all have much high crime rates, and severer crimes. But the only time news media picks up an area by name is if it something bad happening in "Rosengård"... Which skews people's perception of the area. Especially for those who don't work or live there.
2 жыл бұрын
@@PixelShade Ill agree that its not that bad anymore.

really not sure how malmö gets this reputation for its “stunning architecture” lol. the torso and town centre and the “everything in between” you mentioned is about a 15 min walk. most everything outside the city centre is pretty plain. stockholm and copenhagen are much prettier.

@@MartijnAroundTheWorld There is a lot of crime and violence. Many so-called refugees who came from the Middle East and Africa.
