I get it man. I have a Pearl Export EX, the gold badges from the early 2000s that I've been adding pieces to for the past few years. Still haven't been able to find a 18 or 24 inch kick, but I have ever other size Pearl manufactured during that time. And it's only because I want them all to match 😂

Love the concept of the "shell bank". I've been trying to do exactly this my old Slingerland setup (9/16/16/24/24). I added a an 8x12 and couple of different snares, and have been looking for a 20x14 bass drum and possibly a 14x14 floor tom. I'd rather increase the versatility of this kit than buy other kits. Cheers!

The idea of a shell bank to me keeps things super fresh - especially for me as I use one kit and then a midtown kit for gigging but my main is is my Pearl Session Studio Select. It originally started as a 20, 10, 12, 14, 16. My first addition was an 8 and a matching snare. My second addition was a 24 kick which is SO fun and inspiring to play. I’ve considered and toyed with the idea of getting the last two sizes of the kit that I don’t have and could possibly want which are an 18 floor and 13 rack. I could also do a 22 kick but I enjoy the contrast between my 20 and 24. The 13 is super similar to the 12 in size, so that’s the least. Definitely an 18 floor would be fun! Regardless, shell banks are super fun and there’s nothing like stacking up all the drums for a pretty picture!

This inspired me to do something similar, except with the Renown in Tobacco Burst. I was able to buy 2 kits used on Marketplace at different times and pick-up about 200 miles apart. They are also probably 10-20 years apart so the finish, mounts, hoops, badges, etc. are slightly different so where there is overlap have to decide what to keep and what to sell.

Another great video! Cool to see you let loose with a HUGE setup! I did the same with my 80s Sonor kit back in 2019 when I had more drums than I knew what to do with. It's always fun to experiment with different setups. But sometimes the "less is more" approach is the best move. 1 up, 2 down for me. And occasionally a 10" Remo Roto tom above my 13" tom.

Wow, your kit here sounds amazing! I like your attention to detail regarding the isolation of the drums and I myself, same as you, really don't think there's a big enough difference in a undrilled kick to the convenience of having Tom options more accessible. That's one great individual drum set to own, I'm planning on the same collection only with an older line and no longer in production, I'll get there I'm sure, colour matching though I'm not so sure about. Great video, beautiful drum set with great options to boot! Oh and your playing and technique is pretty darn good too, of course!! 👍🥢

It's always satisfying to me to watch a drummer pick a particular "theme" and then roll with it. I dreamed of having a shell bank for many years and finally built it a couple years ago (The Turquoise Oyster PDPs I refer to as Project 303). I am also pretty impressed that you managed over a dozen setups with relatively few sizes. I think you should get the 18" bass...but maybe that's my OCD kicking in.

When making my setup when I was gigging I did 8/10/12/15 toms 18 / 24 kiks The 24 was great for almost everything. The 18 did higher tunings and small venues. That being said the 18 could do some very low tunings with no problems. Brooklyn's sound great and the finish is awesome!

I think a lot of us either do the shell bank thing or at least aspire to it. I own 10x8, 12x9, 13x11, 14x10 (snom), 15x12, and 18x16 drums, all maple shells and sparkle-wrapped in some way. I don't really have _room_ for anything else, so a shell bank is the only realistic way to do the multi-kit thing. If I need a 20 or 22 bass... someone will need to buy it for me and store it for me: I have half of a bedroom for both a set-up kit and to store everything else.

Is there left and right play on the bass drum tom pole mount thing that goes into the bass drum once tightened? I picked up a Micro and it seems like the pole is slightly too small, like the difference between a metric and sae conversion seeings how the hardware came from Thailand. Ok, you're right, I did laugh. The mount that came on that 13 is horrible. I would have dumped that thing in a heartbeat. The other mount is much cleaner looking. With the busy wrap pattern, you almost don't even see that it is a suspension. I usually just use a snare stand for my rack tom these days, so I'd have been done in about 10 minutes.
