I think that the best option for Malta🇲🇹 this year is definitely Kantera (also my favourite song so far this year). Although Kant is also very good song, I don't know, I'm afraid people hearing it for the first time could really misunderstand the real meaning of the song while Kantera don't have this issue. So, dear Malta🇲🇹, send Kantera and -3 Q streak will be over for sure. Great analyse again,Tom and I have to say, you English speakers are so polite if that C word you mentioned is the dirtiest one in the language, the one you should never say.🤣 Just come to 🇭🇷🇧🇦🇷🇸🇲🇪 and see ours.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

On the side note, that first chorus drop in Kant really caught me off guard lmao 😂.

6:05 Maltese is an Arabic language (in the same way that Italian is Latin) it diverged enough from standard Arabic to be considered its own language but essentially it's an Arabic dialect-turned-language and it has a lot of influence from Sicilian and Italian i heard that the Tunisian dialect of Arabic is very close to it
@darrengrasso74056 күн бұрын
No it's not an Arabic language or dialect, just as Italian/French/Spanish are not Latin. The Maltese grammar is quite similar to Arabic but only 45 to 50% of the Maltese vocabulary is derived from Sematic languages. The other 50/55% is influenced by Romance languages and English.

Tom, Maltese is a semitic language, that is it has its roots in Arabic (due to its being invaded by the Arabs and colonised for over 200 years by them. Others state that Maltrse even predated that invasion attributing it to Phoenician presence in pre Roman times -sry for the brief historical lesson). The language was highly influenced by Italian since the year 1000 (round about) when it was tied politically to Sicily. Then it had some influence from English too. As the language itself - the "gh" (with the crossed h) is silent like the gh in English as in though. The crossed h on its own has the English h sound. "Te Amo" is not in Italian but in Spanish. Btw the "g" in the Maltese surname Borg is sounded like the English "j" as in jam.

Even with such a selection we are still worried about Malta's qualification chances 😂 They have a quite a good number of competitive songs that are stylistically different enough to not have overlapping demographics. Pretty sure Marcus & Martinus were the last twins on stage ! Now I feel good remembering something faster than the OG ESC walking database 🤣 Man I feel almost ashamed to admit I like Stefan Galea's track the most, I don't think I have ever heard psytrance beats trying to get into ESC, MATT BLXCK doing it ! I wished Stefan was a better performer though, he's missing that charisma and X-factor for sure.

The most anticipated one for me. Greece & Iceland will definitely be quicker, just 22 songs combined. 3:20 We've never had twins for three years straight, I think even two consecutive years was new, though we had two sets of twins in 2014 (and they both had it in their name) and 2011. 3:50 Yes, that's derived from Italian, momenti fragili (I don't know Italian so there might be mistakes) 4:50 This was a backup entry after a song was disqualified for being released before the deadline. 6:28 Nope, that's Spanish 😄 Ti amo (with an i) is Italian. 8:50 She is one of the few who compete for a third time in a row. 13:12 Jessika and Fabrizio Faniello (represented Malta twice), who have more than 20 attempts combined. She's giving Markus Riva a run for his money, tbh. The other guy is called Victorio. 15:28 This is the Estonia 2024-like title of this year. A bit of a pirate sea shanty. 20:30 She was part of Erba last year. This year, she's gone solo (however, Erba have written JVF's song) 25:00 Lol 😆 It's a fan favourite, nonetheless. 26:55 Also his third participation in a row. He has never made the final yet, however. 29:35 She was in Sopranique last year, they sang an opera song. Spoiler - it's not Teya's only song in the running (but not for Malta) 32:12 Yes, there was a different one last year. So people weren't sure at first if it's that one or the former ESC participant. He actually hasn't returned since 2012. 35:20 Another one who competes for the third consecutive time, but like Stefan, has never made it to the final. 37:00 He can actually top that. This is his fourth participation in a row. Everyone expected Matt Blxck to come back for a fourth time, but... 40:05 I was wondering the same thing. It's around 5½ years. 41:10 Yeah, Malta isn't really known for rock, that's Finland's task. Have they even sent a rock entry in this century? I would call this song "Caving" tbh. So if Kant means singing, I assume Kantera means something similar. 48:20 It first reminded me of Do-re-mi-fa-so f-king done with you 49:05 Wait, that's an idea 😳 If they both go to the final, Whistleblower and Kant should be put back-to-back in the running order. I've got a secret you should know/If you got a secret - I know. They should just claim it's about the philosopher Kant 😄 We've had songs named after actual people since 2020, after all. 50:50 And the last one who competes for the third time in a row, but he has already made the final on both of his previous attempts. 52:03 At least in his first song, he had a random key change out of nowhere, so nothing unexpected. After slowly becoming a ghost, he's now concrete. Maybe it's left-over from the creeping walls. That's all of his song titles in two sentences 😄 55:10 This is so Malta 2014. We can also make themes with the Estonian song titles. I didn't even notice the Concrete/Rubble & Stone before.
