Malta Rabat & St Paul's Catacombs - Would You Enter?

Rabat in Malta should be included in your travel plans if you love eery history. How about climbing down into catacombs? I tried it and this is what it looked like.

The visit in the catacombs was really quiet ... few tourists at this time ... so much better for your pictures.

I just saw your comment. 😅 Yeah, I was really lucky, there were barely any visitors around. Maybe that was due to the overcast weather, but it added some dramatic mood, if you ask me.

Interesting visit to the Catacombs. I was actually expecting to see skulls and bones like in the Paris Catacombs (which I recommend If you ever go to Paris). But definitely neat to learn about the history of the place.

Same! I was a bit disappointed not to see the bones but then, it's just a different place and it was constantly adjusted for different religions over time. Haven't been to the Catacombs in Paris (or Venice). It's on the list.

I have always been very curious to visit Malta, so cool to see it a bit. And I love visiting cemeteries and catacombs lol. that was an interesting visit down there, glad no bones are piled up (I have seen that).

It really is a fascinating island. So much to see even though it's relatively small. I love visiting cemeteries and catacombs, too. You should go to Malta at one point then. :)

Those catacombs look very different from the one in Paris. Do you know what they did with all of the bodies? I like how these look, but wish it was more Indiana Jones-like, hahaha! (That's my favorite movie) About how much did it cost for entrance?

I haven't been to the catacombs in Paris. What are they like? Are those the ones with the many skulls? (And Indiana Jones is epic, isn't he?) Also, I actually don't know what happened to the bodies. The entrance fee was 5€.

The Parisian catacombs are quite fascinating--yes, with the many skulls. A bit freaky, but certainly thought-provoking. Gotcha!

Most bodies were moved into ossuaries or just cleared out during the Catacombs' various reuse throughout the years. Looting didn't help either.
