Been to malta twice and both times in sliema you are right about the british influence especially our navy had a large presence there in fact journalist peter hitchens was born in sliema his dad was a naval officer.

Wat no Greggs ☹️ Malta has been so strong in British culture from The Crusade wars through to WW11 and the islands collective award of the George Cross for the Siege of Malta 1940-1943. It was a Maltese politital dispute of the RN ports and shipyards that ended Malters strong ties with the British. Cheers DougT

Came back from Sliema a few weeks ago. If you had continued walking on the front you would have walked past the boat trips, ferry and lots of roadside bars and restaurants. We stayed in the Waterfront hotel in the middle of all the bars.
