Zao - Before 14.0 Gun/Torpedo Angle Buff | World of Warships

I think the Zao is a perfect example of how having really good gun performance can keep a ship above water even when everything else about it is being hit by powercreep. Stealth fire nerf hurts it, the increasing prevalence of ships that overmatch 30mm hurts it, CV rework hurt it, and so on and so on but Zao can cling to life by having guns that make the shells go where you point them. Really looking forward to some well-deserved buffs for the old workhorse.

I am so happy for the Buffs. I kept my self for getting Zao for years. Eventually I bit the bullet and got her. I am 112 games in with her have 2.4k PR and 71% Winrate in her. The Buffs are going to make her so much more comfortable

Tbh, in randoms Zao was a decent ship all the time even when the memes went wild. What it always had to respect are the overmatching BBs and that hasnt changed. Zaos biggest strengths, the extremely accurate guns and the excellent conceal were always there. Now it has some quality of life improvements cause people cried all the time about Zao being trash. But it wasnt.

Speaking of Hindenburg. That one should be next to get some love. Conceal and speed need to get improved since there re all those giga fast and overmatching BBs.

The torpedo turn angle is certainly welcome because those angles are really restrictive as they are. Aside from the proposed changes I don’t think Zaō needs anything else

People love to complain or meme on Zaos weaknesses. But they forget about its amazing strengths it even had before the newest buffs like great conceal and maneuverability, big stealth torp power and most importantly those extremely accurate guns with strong HE. With the newest buff of better gun and torp angles Zao is more than fine. Its only problem was the addition of Nevski and because in WGs fantasy the Soviet Union was an advanced naval power, using the most modern technologies, Zao suffered. Soviet ships really shouldnt have Radar. Anyways. Out of the aged heavy cruisers its Hindenburgs and Des Moines turn to recieve some love now.

Zao is stil the most performing cruiser for me in avg dmg perspective after 9 yrs in wows . Well, the Cerberus will ruin my Zao's throne in no time if I play more of this ship.
