Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there lived a lovely princess named Snow White. She had skin as white as snow, lips as red as roses, and hair as black as ebony. Snow White's mother died when she was very young, and her father, the king, remarried a beautiful but vain woman who became her stepmother.
At first, the Queen was kind to Snow White, but as the princess grew older and more beautiful, the Queen's jealousy grew. She couldn't bear the thought of anyone being more beautiful than she was.
Every day, the Queen would ask her magic mirror, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
And the mirror would always reply, "You, my Queen, are fair; it's true. But Snow White is even fairer than you."
The Queen was consumed by jealousy and hatred. She ordered her huntsman to take Snow White deep into the forest and kill her. The huntsman led Snow White into the forest, but when he raised his knife to strike, he couldn't do it. Instead, he told Snow White to run away and never return.
Lost and frightened, Snow White stumbled upon a small cottage deep in the forest. The cottage belonged to seven dwarfs who worked in the nearby mines. When they saw Snow White, dirty and tired from her journey, they welcomed her into their home.
Snow White cooked and cleaned for the dwarfs, and they grew to love her dearly. Meanwhile, the Queen discovered that Snow White was still alive and living with the dwarfs. Determined to rid herself of Snow White once and for all, the Queen disguised herself as an old peddler woman and went to the cottage.
She offered Snow White a beautiful lace bodice, laced it up so tightly that Snow White could not breathe, and left her for dead. When the dwarfs returned home, they loosened the lace, and Snow White breathed once again.
But the Queen was not finished. She returned to the cottage, this time with a poisoned comb. Again, the dwarfs were able to revive Snow White.
Finally, the Queen disguised herself as an old farmer's wife and offered Snow White a poisoned apple. Snow White took a bite and fell into a deep sleep.
When the dwarfs returned home and found Snow White lying lifeless on the ground, they built her a glass coffin and placed it in the forest. Every day, they would visit her and weep for their lost friend.
One day, a prince came riding through the forest and saw Snow White lying in her glass coffin. He was so taken by her beauty that he leaned down and kissed her.
The moment his lips touched hers, Snow White opened her eyes. The spell was broken, and she was awake once again.
The prince and Snow White were married in a grand ceremony, and Snow White forgave her stepmother for all the evil she had done. And they all lived happily ever after.
