I'm so glad you made this video. I can't believe how divided the country seems to be on whether things are good or not. As if people would lie about their economic situation. It feels like we're being gaslit, as we struggle, we're being told things are so great.

Another really useful MML. Like you say change yourself now while you still have the option to do so. The worst and most painful kind of change, financial, health, lifestyle whatever is when it's forced onto you through having run out of road which can take a massive toll on your future, although there will always be some people who must learn the hard way about everything. Thanks for this Mary

Thank you for your honest take and solid advice regarding finances. We might not be able to do everything, but we can all do SOMETHING! ✌🏼

Hi Mary, I am subscribed to your channel from Italy, I've known you since years and honestly it is because of you if I learned English. I want to tell you how important this chit chat videos that you make are, because nowadays people are less and less used to talk about really important topic of life. I related a lot to what you said, I am 26 and only a few years ago I started tracking by spending and gaining, cause my parents never ever taught me and my sister how to deal with money and I have always had a very bad realtionship with money ( never bought nothing for me all my life until 5 years ago when I started spending money for the most useless things). In 2023 I discovered, here on You Tube, how some people do budgeting and use techniques to save money (envelope challenge and similar) and in the last couples of years I decided I wanted to control my money because I wanted to use it but, without a job, I felt was guilty spending also one euro. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions, most people are scared to think and to admit thier faults. Take care ❤

I’ve been watching your videos since the very start of your channel, and at that time I was living hand to mouth… now that we’ve got something, it’s really scary seeing how little it seems to be. I remember thinking “if I just had some money in the bank I’d be able to sleep at night.” But here we are, and now I’m stressing about how that money feels like it’s dwindling in value by the day. We cut back on everything. We don’t even buy yogurt anymore unless we have a plan on eating it. Sparkling water is out. Lots of deviled eggs & homemade bread around this joint. Thank god my chickens are gonna basically be free ranging this spring. We bought all the material to fence the yard a year ago at a steep discount so that’s gonna help a lot with feed costs in the long run… The very young family renting our old house has no clue how to manage their money and I’m playing momma to them right now… it’s so hard to watch them make stupid financial decisions. Like day after day after day stupid decisions.

I love your advice about facing reality and getting your head out of the sand. When a doctor told me twelve years ago my youngest son had a developmental disability I didn’t want to believe it but finally someone said “the elephant in the room ain’t gonna find the front door and leave, sweetheart, you might as well face him.” I have realized that applies to a lot of things in life. I just turned 50 this past year and I have a whole different perspective on a lot of things too. We are working hard to get our finances under control but our 18 year old is struggling with this but I think eventually he will figure it out. He is off to college in the fall but thank God, he should not have too much debt at all. I don’t see things getting better any time soon either. Hang in there everyone, get your priorities straight and God be with us all ♥️

Since I graduated college I feel like I always hate the jobs that I get…I switch every year…since you were a paralegal for a long time and worked at 1 place for a long time, how did you deal with everything negative at the workplace?

I'm 33. I work as a massage therapist. I feel burnt out on it even though I only work 4 days a week (working full time as a therapist is not common, but possible- not for me!). I make about $4000 a month. After bills, I am left with about $1000-$!500 to save a month. I rarely eat out and rarely buy anything expensive.

Mary I loved seeing you visit with Glenda the good witch. And I just wanted to add in addition to everything you’ve said so far I’m maybe 10 minutes in. Our govt is printing an astronomical amount of money. They took over the banks I think around war time or thereabouts and ever since then yo. Ever since then. Look up how much money has been printed since the pandemic. It’s a freaking eyesore. And that’s to bail out auto and banks and etc. i don’t see any hospital bail outs. I don’t see any grocery store bail outs. Man o man. Anyhoo. Sorry for blasting off but I just wanted to add that.

18yos need to do some committed saving. I wish I had thought of it like a 100% essential buffer, as I'm estranged from all family now and, as can happen with poor mental health, I've incurred physical health issues all by myself (and lack of professional advice but it's mostly me). This will inevitably affect employment and prospects, just like many other factors like mental breakdown from stress or burnout! The whole rainy day savings might need changing to "in case of unexpected unemployment or health recovery" fund. No job is beneath you! That's a solid belief that changed from a few years ago. Better to be employed wherever is adequate, making savings, than have pride.

I realized I'm a broke bitch about a year ago. Like truly finally accepted that, but at least I'm not in massive debt? Mary's right. It is uncomfortable and can be disheartening when you see people thriving and able to buy the cool stuff, nice bags, go on lux vacays, live in lux apartments, etc. It makes me feel like a failure.

Hey Mary, just an FYI...don't ever round up with these franchise companies, because you round up, they submit funds from donations and those companies get to claim it towards THEIR charitable donations. Now, a few cents here and there from one individual is no big deal right? But, when all that money is added up from everyone, it's a wholllllle lot that those big corporations are writing off. (Those buggers) So never round up unless it's a small organization!!❤❤❤
